We are continuing our discussion of leaving the plantation. Remember, a
plantation is not just a physical place . . . it is a
mentality. Actually, the
plantation was much, much more than a farm . . . it was a well-thought out and
carefully planned economic system to keep a permanent underclass of people
working for another class of people. Enough time on the plantation, and
eventually the slaves would forget that there was a big world out there.
They
wouldn't believe in themselves or the talents GOD gave them. That would keep
them forever in bondage to someone else.
Today we will discuss the lack of organization and vision.
Did you know that on many plantations, slaves were denied the right to meet
publicly? Do a bit of research, it really is interesting. Except for some
worship meetings, slaves could not congregate to discuss topics. Oppressors knew
that if ever a few people got organized and started working together toward and
common vision, they could overthrow the oppressor.
But that would be impossible if they couldn't get organized. It didn't matter
how gifted the slaves were, or even if they actually outnumbered their
oppressors . . . if they could somehow remain disorganized, they would remain in
bondage. If they had no vision for the future, they would remain in bondage to
those that did have a vision.
The Bible says this in Genesis. Remember when Nimrod organized people to build
the Tower of Babel? Even if people
organize for evil, it works. Listen folks . . . organization and vision
work. GOD said that because the people
were one and had joined themselves together, that nothing would be impossible
for whatever they decided to do.
The Bible says that where ther is no vision, the people perish.
Do you have a vision to be out of debt? Do you have a vision to be a better
musician? To read the Bible through in a year? To lose wieght?
What kind of parent do you want to be? Do you have a vision for your choir? Are
you willing to stick with your vision, even if it means that you are talked
about and misunderstood?
Is there a spirit on you that resents anyone with a vision? Do you show up late
to functions and have the nerve to get an attitude if someone corrects you? Then
the devil is using you to keep your group on the plantation.
Oops. That's right. The devil is using
you, your disorganization and your uncooperative mindset, to keep your family,
church choir, praise team or church on the plantation. If someone
doesn't have the nerve to confront you, you will cost your group their blessing.
Let the Holy Ghost give you a vision. Finish college. Get out of debt. Go
to Bible study and participate . . . don't just sit and listen; read the
Scriptures beforehand, come ready to discuss the Bible and be a blessing.
Pay your bills on time and stop giving people all those late fees just because
you were unorganized. Oops. Balance that checkbook, too. Oops again. Make a plan
to increase your credit rating.
Organize your rehearsals. Get together with your spouse and start a plan for the
financial blessings of your family. When the two of you are together, nothing
shall be withheld from you of whatever you imagine to do.
Come on, saints . . . GOD set us free a long time ago. Let's leave the
plantation
