Ladies & Gentlemen:

Quick question.  Need to know if "The Lord Giveth, & The Lord Taketh Away" is in the bible.  I thought it was Job but I can't find it.

Thanks Lorenzo!

Now, for the question at hand...

...Can the Bible give inaccurate scripture?

Before my head is shot off, let me explain =o)

John 10:10 says:
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly

Now, by faith, we believe this.  So, by faith, is Job 1:27 "inaccurate"?

(Especially given the fact that a "man" is speaking in Job 1:27 & Jesus is speaking in John 10:10)

Before we read the Bible we must Pray and ask for revelation and understanding of the Truthes that are within.  Without Divine understanding the Bible is FULL of what appears to be contradictions.  So with that said, pray first, then read.  Any questions as your pastor.

Now, I know of a bagful of pastors that can answer this.  This very topic was discussed in TWO bible studies conducted by pastors.  The purpose of coming to LGM about this topic is because I want a better clarity from the scholars that appear in this forum.  I'm always looking for clarity on the bible from every aspect I can.  My mom finally broke down the Lord's Prayer when I was in COLLEGE.  I felt bad that I was reciting this my whole life but still didn't know what it meant.

Any questions as your pastor.

In agreement with you Kadman.

"X", understand this, although you are seeking the help of "Bible Scholars", there are many wolves in sheep's clothing on this board wishing to lead you astray. There are also a lot of so called "Bbible Scholars" who are not rightly dividing the Word of truth.

Your Pastor is the one whom God has placed into your life to feed you spiritually. You must be careful about eating from the different tables represented here. You and others reading may end up being poisoned and not know where's the source.

I agree with Sister T and Bboy. You should go to Bible Study and ask questions. Get yourself a Strong Concordance it will help you tremendously.

Well, I can understand if no one wants to touch this subject.  I will admit it is something that is not usually in your everyday bible lessons.

Please understand that when you've been around church and the bible as long as I have, then your usual Romans 10:9 or your John 3:16-type of bible studies just aren't enough, because they're reviewing things I already know and I want a deeper understanding about the word.  I appreciate all of those who feel that I need to speak to my pastor about this subject.  Wolves in sheep's clothing is not a concern for me because I can still discern what is gospel and what is not.  Now, the ones I AM worried about is Wolves.....in WOLVES clothing.

You do have individuals out there that know the bible backwards & knows how to manipulate to challenge and shake your faith and I do NOT want to be one of those saints that does not have enough knowledge of the word to fight a battle GOD already gave me victory over.

Again, thanks to all who've responded to this post =o)

I may be wrong about this, but here goes...  I think that we have to stay with the issue at hand within a given context.  I always thought that the Job book was about obedience.  Regardless of what's happening, obey and respect God.  Satan was trying to show that, in the right conditions, Job would turn away.  Job acknowledges his tribulations, still honoring God.  God is showing us His idea of reverence to Him.  In Daniel, the three men thrown into the oven; what did they say?  "Even if God don't save us..."  Just the fact that they said that, is that lack of faith?  I never thought so.  They actually thought they would be saved.  But obedience was the issue.  If we turn the scriptures against itself it will say different things.  Like the Jesus statement.  To me, aiming it against the Job statement now has Jesus saying that with faith you will never have tribulation.  Jesus never said that.  Jesus was talking about faith in Him.  Should we go the book of obedience to find the definition of faith?  In other words, when you go in a store looking for bread, why would you go to the meat section??

X...

If you desire a better understanding man, I would pray for it.  Talk to Big Daddy.... He will never let you down.  Develop your relationship with Him.  If you already have a strong prayer life then I commend you for it.  Be spicific with God.  Tell him you want the double portion, that you want to take your understanding and spirit to the next level.  Granted it will not be for free.  You will have to go through a valley to get where you want to go.  But after all is said and done it will be more than worth the price.  I did this myself a while back and I'm ready for another promotion myself.  I just need to prepare for the trial that comes with it.

Also if you are not being fed at your current church, talk to God about it.  Ask Him if it is time to move on, or what is your purpose there so it can be fulfilled and you can move to the next purpose.

You can try to fully understand the truthes of the Bible and drive yourself batty.  Or accept the fact that God does not reveal all mysteries to us and by FAITH we believe his Word to be true.  And the one constant variable is that we must seek his face and lead others to Christ so that they might be saved as well.  Stay faithful to that and God will reveal to you what is in HIS will to be made known.

In the New testament Paul said and I could be wrong because Im human before someone throws those cyber stones...haha!!! But he said somethings I wrote I was inspired by God and other things He wrote on how he just felt.....so alot of our question and answers aren't wrong....Just thought I would put that out there...
