Well, I won't get into any of what I think you should do, since it involves hours upon hours of meticulous theory study. Noone wants to put that kind of time into learning, and sometimes I even wonder why I do either. But nothing worth accomplishing happens overnight, and if it did you wouldn't treasure it as much. So I'll just say get Uriah's videos if you want to start playing now.
I don't play bass, my bass plays me.

Uriah's videos for sure!  They help alot.  It may seem a little difficult at first, but keep practicing until you get it.  Then go on to the next video.  I also practiced the Cmajor and Cminor scales over and over again for the first week or so, then I began to practice the videos Uriah posted along with practicing scales.  Hope this helps! :P
