I just finished playing it a bit, and on first try, I was able to mute it pretty good...Maybe it's the electronic. It also has a really crisp sound in active mode. I was able to adjust my EQ good enough to get it to sound like Marcus Miller's Fender.
When I'm fingering, I have to lay my thumb across the strings as opposed to anchoring it on the B of my 5 string. When I'm thumping, it plays really clear. I can play it very lightly and get a good sound from it. The strings are also close enough where I can double-thumb fairly easily. It's a little hard to squeeze my two fingers in for a double pop, but I'm not good at doing that anyway, so it'll just take more time.
While thumping, playing octaves wasn't hard at all, it only took me a few tries to get used to the spacing. I think it'll take me about a week to get used to how this plays. I'm surprised, it has been this easy.
In passive mode, it sounds a little more natural, but the strings (which seem like stainless-steel strings) still make it sound a little bright.
The low F# is indeed low! I can't see myself hitting that too often. Most likely, I'll play it between Ab and B...at least that's what my ears say right now. Maybe later, as I get better on it, I'll venture into the depths of the F# and G.
....I'll upload some pics and a couple vids later on today.
