« on: July 09, 2005, 09:07:51 PM »
i need a little help. im a new musician who was thrown into the mix when our musician quit and i took over the position. im having a little problem being able to assign keys to each section of the praise team (i.e. soprano key, alto key, and tenor key). if anyone has any tips how i can be able to distinguish and assign each part from a song, please let me know

WOULD YOU MIND EXPLAINING A LITTLE FURTHER AS TO WHAT YOU ARE ASKING.

ARE YOU HAVING AN ISSUE DISTINGUINSHING THE PARTS IN THE JAM OR ARE YOU HAVING QUESTIONS AS TO WHO CAN SING THE PARITICULAR PART OF THE JAM.

I'm not an expert in the field, but here's my $.02:
- if you have sheet music/tape from which you can read/listen the various parts, then all you have to do is read/listen carefully
- if, as I suspect, this is not your case, then you might want to give the sopranos the melody. Like on the piano, this should be the highest note sung by the choir. You can give altos and tenors parts that make up the harmony that you want to imply. In many cases, this means a third or a fifth down from the soprano part.
It's probably easier to demonstrate than to explain!
