a simple way is 1st, 3rd, 5th; 1st, 3rd, 4th; 1st, 5th, 8th.

something like this. just play with it and write things down. this method really does not sound to good alone. try this while the guitarist is playing a chord.

mcgee gave you a suggestion as to how to mix it up!....If you are intent on using scales as a basis for your bassline then you would do what mcgee said....maybe use different intervals to start and end on....otherwisse i suggest that you you forget about scales all together and just DO AS JO PASS SUGGESTED.....

let your hands flow in time keeping only major ..minor or dominant as restrictions....

this is why I dont teach scales!!....in the real music world they make for great conversation...

i use the 1st, 3rd, 5th method when using chord charts, although i have not gone past the major and minor chords yet, but keep in mind music is about freedom as long as it sounds good do it.

thanks for the information but wihtout scales how will you know what chords to play. also if the talk of scales just keep the conversation going what is the concept of basslines besides chords, or to make the question short what methods do you teach.
