Forgotten by OUR Govt. ??
« on: September 02, 2005, 03:09:09 PM »
After watching continuing coverage of Katrina and the destruction it has caused, One has to wonder if the same thing could happen in any major city in America?..The majority population that resides in the inner city of New Orleans is African American...such is the case in many of our major cities around this country...seeing how long it took for them to send 'food & water' to a city that we can reach within a few hours from ANYWHERE in AMERICA was an eye opener....are we disposable as a class of people...One has to wonder if the help would have taken as long if it were in a suburban area like 'The Hamptons....i'm not inciting racism but it just makes you wonder....Money moves in America and no matter what race you are, if you're living in poverty can you count on the Govt to really have your back in times like these?...I feel for the Mayor of New Orleans...he says he sent out an SOS on tuesday, and here it is Friday and we're just now seeing the food ariving at the Convention Center..It seems as though the NEWS stations have better Intel than that of our Govt...the director of FEMA says he didnt even know people were congregating at the Convention center until thursday morning...HOW IS THAT?  even Harry Connick Jr (an actor/musician) knew about the people inside and he even was inside and was able to get out and 'give the people a voice'...Many times our media does what we call priming..they focus on the bad because negativity sells...The first few days it was all about the people looting'..I'm just glad to see that the majority of our people there are not looting, but trying to take care of their families...This same situation could happen in Chicago, Detroit,Atlanta etc... We just have to pray that this is an eye opener to 'AMERICA' and they see that there are truly people in need in all of our major cities....
