I Need MIDI help......

Monday, I bought a new computer. Someone was kind enough to share a really horrific virus with me and totally messed up my old computer. I'll get the old one fixed later, but I needed a computer NOW!!!

Anyway, there is no joystick portal for me to connect my midi cables on my new computer. I also do not have an input driver.

What should I get....what should I do?? I got this computer at a great price and hate to return it, but if I must, I must.

happy happy belated holiday.

your new PC probably have USB port. and i do believe they make midi cable for USB port.  

If  you don't have that then you might to get a sound card because they come with the gamejoystick port.

you motherboard probably have a onboard sound card.

it just something for you to check out.

Hey , check out the SOund Blaster Audigy sound card. I think the one with MIDI imputs is z2? It runs like $199. I want to have one put on my Gateway as soon as I get my wireless internet hooked up.  Enjoy the new computer, I just built one for my son.

I USE MIDIMAN UNIT, THEY'RE AROUND $50.00, THEY HAVE USB ALSO, IT'S AWESOME! YOU CAN GET THEM AT A PC STORE OT CIRCUT CITY, SOMEPLACE LIKE THAT :wink:

Sister T,

Just go to Guitar Center or Your local music store and ask for a USB Midi Interface for your computer.  It's the same thing as what you had before, except it uses your computer's high speed USB (Universal Serial Bus) port instead of the port on your sound card. THIS is what they look like.  They run anywhere from $30 up to about $90.  I reccomend the Roland UM-2 if you can find it; it has 2 ins and 2 outs so you can add another device if you need to.
