WHERE DO I BEGIN???
« on: October 12, 2005, 03:18:29 PM »
Hello everyone. I am a member of the Gospel Drummer portion of this site. I am a drummer as well as a trumpet player.

I would really love to learn how to play Bass. Could someone point me in the right direction as to what materials or studying that I need to buy or be doing?

God Bless.

Start with Scales, get scale book would not reccomend a book about bass that covers scales. Scales (in my opinion) are the best starting point for a bass player. Chords are another good starting point. A metronome is another good device but I think it's safe to assume you are a drummer.

Hey ER,
I just started on the bass myself 2 and a half weeks ago.  Like MikeGee said, I am starting with Scales and a few finger exercises just to try to loosen up my fingers.

Yes I have fat fingers.  In order to help punish the devil

Mike yes that's a hair tye.  My baby girl gladly donates to daddy's passion by contributing a matching hair tye to my guitar.

Sweet for when you want to mute and have that upright or frettless sound.  You just pull it to the bottom of the neck and leave it.  Play on the bottom of the fret board for fretless sound.

FINGAZ,

How do you like that BTB?  That's the 1206e right?  I had ordered one but was thinking about going with the SR1006.

Negative DJ, that's the 406 but my 1206E is on the way this Saturday or Sunday, just in time for BASS OFF!  I'll put some stuff on BrownFloyd with my 1206E
