I love it. I have gold lugs on my Yamaha Maple Custom kit and Dave Weckl snare. I plan on buying a Pearl Steve Ferrone snare and a Pearl Marvin "Smitty" Smith snare. Both of these have gold hoops(rims) and lugs.

God blessed me with the Yamaha and I figure that's what I should have. When my daughter comes of age she will have as well.

I have noticed also that people show mor respect han they would for another kit without it. I let people play it and they are timid... don't want to damage it. It's a shame they don't respect kits with gold as much.

I don't think gold looks good on all kits though. Some I worry about how durable it is for hard playing. However Dennis Chambers has used gold hoops for years on his kits and snares. Zoro tour last year with gold on his DW sparkle kit because that's what Lenny Kravitz wanted him to have. So I guess it holds up pretty well on the road. Pearl made Tico Torress and entire Double-bass kit made of 24kt gold wich he donated to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame.

I think that in church setting that too many times churches skimp on drum kits. If you have a progressive ministry of excellence especialy one with massive tv exposure that you should display the best that Gods kingdom can have. I belive that the drummers there should aslo be responsible for it's up keep. It should never be dirty, dinged up past normal accidental hits/slipped sticks nor should it go with the heads being changed monthly on the batter-side.

Speaking of which I am overdue to clean/polish mine... ooops.

It is true that 24kt is soft. I was worried about that fact myself. However, I play my kit at two different band rehearsal a week and on gigs and have not had a problem with my lugs wearing etc. Also my kit is a 1996 model and still looks only a year or two old. I use soft padded cases (Sama Ash brand to be exact and have no problems.

The gold plating processes drum companies use are similsr to those for car parts (rims etc) so it is pretty durable.

If you are feeling the bling get it God whants his children to have the best.

Whenever I do get it, my African Mahogany Snare will have gold hardware....There is just something about the way Gold looks on wood. It just does it for me. I also had the same question Angel, I was afraid that the Gold would fade. One of the guys at my local store brought in his kit which he has had for over 12 years with gold hardware, and it looks great.

God Bless. Go for the Gold.

I know this is about Gold Hardware but I saw a nice DW Kit that has Brass Hardware at Sam Ash a while back and it looked awesome.  The Rep. said that brass is the way to go.

That sounds like a brand loyalist coming out of the woodwork. What's shaking K? I was just thinking about you earlier.... Then you had to go and break bad. Now you know the market. Any place (Japan) that has 1200 year old wooden temples still looking like new can build a drumset  that is not worried about U.S. craftsmenship (Sad but true). To the East my bruthat to that East.... bring on the Yamahas!!!

But you know K, I would let you drive the Maple Customs like you were in Daytona. Everybody deserves to ride nice at least once,

Most def Sabe, anything else? We have not because we ask not. Sabian have you ever played on the Tama Iron Cobra single chain? Well I have once before but I didn't  pay it any attention. Yesterday I went to purchase some new heads from samash, and while I was waitiing to be waited on, they had a nice starclassic set up. So of course it was calling my name, the kit itself.......however that foot pedal, well lets say I am buying it (footpedal) this weekend. Man that thing is nice.

Yeah that's the Iron Cobra Jr. I have played it and it feel alright. I have a bit of a mental block when it comes to single chain pedals. I don't really like them. they seem to lack stability and strength. But that pedal is alright.
