Help: 4x10 Cab/Head vs. 115Combo w/ Extension
« on: November 16, 2005, 06:25:46 PM »
I need everyones help on a decision for christmas. I currently have a Peavey TNT115, and i love it but I feel there is better out there for me. Im wondering do yall think it is better to upgrade to a nice head, and a 4x10 cab, or I heard just adding a 2x10 extension to a peavey TNT115 works great. Will I lose bottom going with a 4x10, cuz I want people to feel my B string. What do yall think.. ...Please Help!

I play  in an average sized church, any thing other than that would be small gigs. God Bless

If you have things set up right they will feel.... no i mean FEEEEEL the 4x10 cab. Whats the wattage of the peavey 1x15 combo adding a cab to that you might be lossing something.

One time I was in a music store with a friend, i was playing a 450 watt head pushing a 2x10 cab i went to the front of the store about 40 yards away and the vibrations I felt in my feet was unreal..... and it was just a 4 string.

I tell you what a 4x10 is not small, and if you gig out a lot you will start to feel it (like in your back). I have a Hartke 4x10 and I can't wait to get something smaller like a 2x10. Think of it this way if you play somewhere somewhat professional then hopefully they have their own set-up, whereas all you need is something for you to hear, if not then you breakout the big guns! Peace!

I have a 4X10 also.  You will get a lot out of that setup.  It's not easily portable.  I need to get smaller setup to use on a regular basis.  I'm looking at an Eden 2X10 setup.

If you look at the frequency range on some 10s you will see that it is lower than some 12s and 15s. I wouldnt mind having two 10s myself for keys and bass. I plugged my keyboard up to our bass players amp long ago and it sounded like a new board. Bass actually sounded like bass.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Hey DJ, what kinda 4x10 cab do you have? Eden products sound so good, i love them. I'm going to try my darnest to get the cxc110 combo with my income tax refund.

I have an SWR 750x and Goliath III 4X10.  I play my small Peavey at church since we have a small church.  I only get to play the SWR when we have some kinda special event.  Which has been about 3 times this year.  We have one more coming up.

I was in the store about a month ago and made the mistake of playing an Eden first.  I went through about 10 other amps and couldn't find anything that sounded as good (that was portable).  Even the Ampegs.  I played the DC210XLT but it was a bit pricey, though it was on sale for around $900.  I would like to try out the CXC210 which I may find for a few hundred cheaper and it's 10lbs lighter.
