Congregational Music
« on: November 14, 2005, 11:08:42 AM »
I'm having a very hard time learning to play congregational music. Such as the call and response songs.  For ex.  What a mighy God we serve
There is power in the blood
Jesus in on the main line
and stuff like that.

Is there a simple chord structure that these type of songs follow?  If so can some please share the knowledge so that I can practice.  It would be greatly appreciated.

There is a simple chord structure.  If you learn the 1 - 4 - 1 - 5- 1 progression, you should be able to play most congregational songs.

And here are some of Wizs post:

but it gets deeper then one four five

first of all there are different kind of devotional songs the simplest being songs like praise the lord every body or in the morning when i rise or i am a soldier in the army of the lord

those songs go from the one to the four to the two dominant to the five

songs like cant no body do m like jesus goes from the one to the fourBACK TO THE ONE AND THEN SIX TWO FIVE ONE

SONGS LIKE JESUS ON THE MAIN LINE AND VICTORY IS MINE  goes to the five they are a little more involeved adnd i play it like one to the five the n a couple of two fives followed by a two five to the four chord and then cycle back to the one
i think you should get yopur hands around these basic ones first what a mighty God a n oh magnify the lord are a little differnt but once you can play the above examples you should have no problem
To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word
