Korg Triton: External disk drive?
« on: October 28, 2005, 08:21:50 PM »
Do any of you know if you can hook up an external floppy drive to the Korg Triton for recording and playing back sequences?  My internal floppy drive is broken and it'll take FOREVER to get it replaced at the shop -- but I need it to record my sequences.  Please, help a Sister out.

Hi Sis88... Do you have the scuzzy port hook up in the back of the board? If so go out and bet a zip drive and you can do it that way. Korgs customer service is the worse.  To get something fixed takes along time.

Thanks BEATBOXERZ, yes I have a scuzzy port.  I'll try anything at this point.  I appreciate you for answering. :)

I just thought of probably a cheaper way. You can run the triton right to the mic line of your computer and record your songs and they be saved onto your computer...XP has something called sound recorder and you can do it that way. Just play around with the levels to avoid clipping and you be set to go! Then you can burn them to cd if you have to.

Thanks ddw4e, but that would require me to get my computer drive fixed too (yeah, I'm a starving artist who needs to rig everything instead of actually fixing it or getting a new one).

Alas, I thought I had a scuzzy drive, but it's not actually there.  All that's back there is a metal plate.  And Guitar Center won't give me credit to buy a scuzzy card.  But the folks at GC say that it can be done that way.

Sis88, Try E-Bay if you are still in the market for a suzzy port. Believe it or not I bought my 1st Triton that way and it's working...

Thanks Beatboxer, I'll try it.  In the meantime, I went ahead and took my keyboard to the shop.  For once, Korg didn't nut up;they sent the replacement disk drive overnight and I got my keyboard back two days later.  Of course, while testing my drive I blew out my keyboard amp....

:(  Keep your head up Sis.88 You'll be alright. I gotta get my mackie mixer sent to the shop and my cd burner, so I feel ya. Don't let that stop you from handling your bussiness.... Korg came through huh... That's good. About time they did it right when it comes to customer service. It me six months for them to sent me the mother board for my triton pro 3 yrs ago. I went off at one point. Let me know whats up when you get your triton back so we can share tips on sequencing... I know some tricks that can help. And you probably know some stuff too.
