Man I'm excited. I pick them up in ONE WEEK and I'm going straight to GC to pick up some coated heads.

Man, I hope they are Remo Coated instead of Evans.    Sorry SK but I had to do it.  Throw some nice Coated Emperors on the kit with an Ambassador Coated on the snare.  You'll see.

Go coated single-ply EVANS G1 or REMO AMBASSADORS just like Dave Weckl. I heard them (Weckl on the Oak Customs) live and there is no better way to go. G1 coated/G1 clear or Ambassador coated/Ambassador clear the toms....

or for extra sensitivity G1 coated/J1 Etched or Ambassador coated/Diplomat on the toms.

EMAD batter or EQ3 batter if you go EVANS. Powerstroke  4 if you go Remo.

Sonny Emory's Oak Custom set had coated Emperors on it at his Daytona Beach, FL clinic.  They sounded wonderful, especially the floor toms.  His bass drum had a coated Powerstroke 3 and his signature snare had a coated Powerstroke 3 on it.

I have them  8O

These drums make me do this  8O .

Oak Customs are incredible. The toms sing LOUD. Beautifully, they aren't harsh at all but they have insane volume.

The guy gave me new heads. I put them on, tightened every lug until their were no wrinkles, played them, and THEY SOUNDED AAAAAWESOME. I didn't even tune them!!! I can't wait to see what they sound like tuned.

SabianKnight, my snare is a great thing to look  at I'm just having trouble getting a warm fat sound with a pop out of it. Ideas?
