I need some advice.
« on: December 09, 2005, 03:04:14 PM »
I'm just starting to play keyboard, and i need some advice. How can i tell what chords will sound right in sequence?

ex: a Dmaj chord doesn't sound right following a Cmaj chord.

Can i use scales to correct this, or should i just play around with the chords until i find what sounds right.

This becomes easier once you understand music theory and progressions.
Also, ear training can help you too.  It all depends on what key you are in, where you trying to go, where you coming from, and what sound u want.  If you ask a more specific question, I can further help u.

Actually, a Dmaj chord would sound real good after a Cmaj chord in the key of G cuz the next chord would either be an Emin or a Gmaj chord.  Here is an example:

C / G-C-E
D / A-D-F#
E / B-E-G

C / G-C-E
D / A-D-F#
G / B-D-G
Real musicians play in every key!!!
Music Theory, da numbers work!
