How I Practice.
« on: January 07, 2006, 06:16:34 PM »
I sent this to someone this is one way I practice. Anybody else got some practice tips?

I think I may mute the string partly with my RH some when I pluck. I have been practicing the slap-pluck in octaves and sevens. I will go up slapping and plucking to the 12 fret on the strings.
s- slap
p-pluck

---p1------p2--
----------------
---s1------s2--
----------------

or I wil play

-----------
---p3-----
-----------
---s1-----

I do these up to the 12 fret then I work on double and triple slap. Like I may slap with my thumb 2 times then pluck or slap 3 times then pluck. Or I will slap 2 times and pluck 2 times and so on. I wish I could find a technique DVD. I have a couple that teach basic songs but I can do that on my own. Anybody know any good technique DVD's? I dont want to pay to watch someone teach 10 percent and show off the other 90.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

I will try that out.  I have to admit.  I have not given much attention to Slap style yet.

When you say "blues chords", do you mean a I-IV-V progression?  Essentialy, you should play at least the root, fifth, and maybe the octave.  Will you be playing mostly traditional style gospel?
