Jamal Hartwell's DVD Pack
« on: December 29, 2005, 02:18:57 PM »
Now, I'm a drummer and I want to get this. I still need to learn theory.  But I would recommend this to anyone out there that would like to elevate their playing.  If I get enough b-day money, that's my next purchase.  The clips and music on the site are off the chain.  God has blessed and is blessing this brother.  If anybody has purchased this or heard about it, feel free to comment on it.

Stay blessed, y'all!

I may post this in the piano forum as well.

I with you bro.  I have been eyeing this DVD set for several weeks.  Just waiting for the $$ to come along so I can grab me a copy.  I also would like to know anybody's opinion on this set?  Thanks for your post...

If you are a beginner you should try Jermaine Griggs before Jamal Hartwell. Jermaine breaks it down and teaches you theory better than Jamal. Go on his website and see if you like it. www.hearandplay.com

Hi,

I hear you 'beantownborn', the only thing that I am waiting for is my paycheck, so I can go and get it, the website is great and has helped me tremendously.

Not only in skills and techniques but also in knowing other musicians and getting to hear other perspectives about the music industry for God.

I heard an interview between the two, Jermaine and Jamal.  Jermaine asked Jamal if the theory was explained on his new DVD pack.  Jamal's response was that in the first DVD set he put out, the theory wasn't explained that well, but with his NEW DVD set, he has a supplement that explains all the theory behind what he is playing.  Hope this helps!

God Bless

Yeah, I heard that as well.  Jamal said he got the guy who did the horn arrangement for Kirk Franklin's Hero album to do the theory.  Healingtears, I hear what you're saying about Jermaine Briggs. I actually ordered his set Gospel 201 set a few days ago.  It meets where I'm at, especially with the theory.  I may also get Jamal's DVD pack and keep that in the stash for when I finish Jermaine's and get to that level of playing.  I appreciate the insight. Oh, and your welcome tmyboy for the posts.  I love music and like to hear the Holy Spirit move through that. He gets the praise and worship for all of this.  It's all God.  Stay blessed, people, and Happy New Year!!!!

If its not for a beginner, is it for a intermediate piano player?? I already have GK202 and GK300...I know some things from that n watnot. Would I get frustrated with this DVD?? Should I hold off of it??
To KNOW me is to UNDERSTAND me, to UNDERSTAND me is to APPRECIATE me...

this dvd is pretty much for those who already know there chords and scales, this dvd just teaches you a different style and gives you a different feel of playing music, its a urban style it also has alot of differnet fills and runs that will accompany you nicely
