Yeah, I play bass , drums and piano, Playing all three helps me understand the role of instrument very well. I started on piano since i was 4yrs old had to learn all the theory and sight reading and so when i got a bass around 11 its was so much easy to play because i already knew what a wanted to play therefore i just needed learn bass technique in order to play it. When i made to high school i went to a music school, i decided lets try the drums, turns out of was very independantly coordinated with my hands and feet and i sheded with a lot of nasty cats so i became i really good drummer in high school, while playing the bass hard core and playing piano in church. Then i made it to Berklee and chose to purse bass and i'm still taking a piano class or drum class when i have room for a elective and im only 20 years old. I can honestly say thats the best thing a musician can do, learn as many instruments as you can because it opens up you mind to be more musically when you are playing and it will open up your ear and help you understand different concepts and rules within music. Now sometimes i be over booked with gigs on a different instrument but i love it the checks are nice

Some poeple might see it as showing off but i dont think so, its a blessing to be able to understand different instruments at a high level and know how to read and write music for each instrument. So if your thinking about learning a 2nd, 3rd or 4th instrument, go for it, cuz your brain can never run out of room to learn new things in music. People out there sometimes get multiple degrees in college in different subjects, why not do the same in music?, thats jus how i look at it.
