How Much We Can Bear
« on: January 20, 2006, 08:47:07 PM »
Can somebody give me the chords to this song. My choir wants to sing it, and I desperately need these chords, preferably in Db.

Please anybody, I checked the main "chords" website and couldnt find these chords anywhere.

Okay ddw4e....I have a lil problem and Im hoping you can help me with this.

I played these chords in choir rehearsal and they want me to have a more fuller sound. They want me to have that base(thats in the song) in my playing. Picky??....I dont know, but nonetheless, do you think you can help me out with this.

He really wants me to learn this, and I learned it the way you posted, but like I said, he wants it to be fuller, more like the song.

Please help me if you can. And dont worry bout transposing it at the end when they go up 3 times. I'll just do that work myself.

i don't do filler chords on that song...(actually I NEVER played it in church) but most of the chords are what you cal "hit" chords...I call them that cause they will stand out (like saying that you use brass sound and hit those chords) and if played right make fuller chords.

what you can do with the bass.add filler is this..

Eb_Bb_Eb / F# Bb C# F - If in your life you are going through,
Bb / Ab C Eb - and you don't
Eb_Bb_Eb / F# Bb C# F - know really what to do
Bb / Ab C Eb - just call on
Eb_Bb_Eb / F# Bb C# F - Jesus, He will
SINGLE NOTES
Eb_F_F# - see you thro-
Ab / F# Bb C# - ugh,
C / Ab C Eb - for He
C# / Ab C# F - knows, Jesus,
C / F Bb D F - He (FILLER)
F / Eb Ab C - knoo
Bb / F Ab C# -ooows.
Bb / Ab B D F (FILLER)

DO THE SAME ON THE CHORUS...ROCK THE BASS LIKE HOW I DID IT ON THE BEGINNING OF THE VERSE AND YOU BE GOOD TO GO! :D

You can try that but if you try to get nothin but filler chords, you goin to make the song too busy..so keep that in mind.

see, they(the choir) used to sing this song with another piano player who came down to visit....I dont know how he played it.....but they want me to play as full as he did....I cant get a hold of him or anything, so i gotta figure out how to play this song a little more fuller....I dont know if the problem is the base...or filler notes...or maybe he just used different chords, but i guess i'll figure it out......hopefully.

They can't make you play like someone that you never heard before. They have to play with you...not the previous musician.  You do what you do..don't try to satify them..satify God doc..

It aint like that....they aint making me do anything. They want it played a certain way....and i personally would want to play it more fuller. Your chords are great...but its like those chords are for if I had the whole band that the guy had on the CD, with the bass and everything else.

Hey Blackwiz87, D gave you some pretty nice chords.  I think his version is greatd just like it is and you should be a little more greatful cuz he couldn't have gave u anything.  Anyways, here is the way I would play it:

"How Much We Can Bear"
Key Db  LH/RH

Intro:

Bb / F-Ab-C-Eb (2x)
Eb / Gb-Bb-Db-F
(repeat 2x)

Eb / Gb-Bb-Eb
F / Ab-Db-F
Gb / Bb-Eb-Gb
Ab / Ab-Db-F
Ab / Ab-Db-F
/ Gb-Bb-Eb
Db / F-Ab-Db

F  / C-Eb-Eb
Bb / Db-F-Ab If
or
F / C-Eb-G-Bb
Bb / D-Gb-Ab-Db If

Part 1:

in your life
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F you are
Ab, Bb, Ab, Bb / going through
Db /
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F
Ab, Bb, Ab / and
Bb / F-Ab-C-Eb you don't
Db / know
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F really
Ab, Bb, Ab, Bb / what to do
Db /
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F
Ab, Bb, Ab / just
Bb / F-Ab-C-Eb call on
Db / Je-
Eb / sus
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F He will
Eb / Gb-Bb-Eb see
F / Ab-Db-F you
Gb / Bb-Eb-Gb through
Ab / Ab-Db-F
Ab / A-C-Eb-Gb-A for He
Db / Ab-Db-F knows,
*/ Db-F-Ab Je-  *optional chord
*/ Eb-Gb-Bb sus  *optional chord
*/ F-Ab-Db He  *optional chord

F  / Gb-Bb-Eb kno-
Bb / F-Ab-Db ows.
or
F / C-Eb-G-Bb kno-
Bb / D-Gb-Ab-Db ows.
(repeat substituting words)

Part 2:

How much
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F how
Ab, Bb, Ab, Bb / much we
Db /
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F
Ab, Bb, Ab / we
Bb / F-Ab-C-Eb can
Db / bear
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F we
Ab, Bb, Ab, Bb / can bear *modulate from here
Db /
Eb /
/ Gb-Bb-Db-F
Ab, Bb, Ab /
Bb / F-Ab-C-Eb how much
Db /
(repeat)

Modulation chords to D:

F# / C#-E-A
B / D-F#-A
or
F# / C#-E-G#-B
B / D#-G-A-D
(transpose Part chords from Db to D)

The song is really basic and basic chords will work.  Most of the song is just 2-6 back and forth, then it goes to 5, then 1, then 3 then 6, and repeats.  So, here the formula for any key is: 2-6-5-1-3-6

It's o.k. Black, I understand where you coming from when people is putting pressure on you they want you to get a specific sound.  I go through it too, but just remember that we are all learning.  It just seemed to me you was kinda being a little ungrateful.  If I offended you in any way, I apologize.

Its all good. I think ddw4e knows I appreciate everything hes gave to me....if he doesnt, he knows now. I guess its hard to tell through words on the internet. I need all the help I can get and I just visited that musicians learning center website you posted....I think ima be using a lot of those chords too.

I most definitely appreciate this kinda help because you cant exactly buy this kind of help in a book or whatever where the chords are written out. But again, I guess its hard to know my tone through the internet.
