So I'm driving up to the GM HQ building for a 3:00 meeting and I see a bunch of emergency vehicles, lights going, just west of the building at the intersection that leads to the tunnel from downtown Detroit, under the Detroit River, to Windsor, Ontario Canada. I figure it's a car accident scene.
I get up to the floor where my meeting is and one of the admins goes "you gotta see this" and leads me to the window. Suddenly, we're looking down on a scene where the Detroit Police and Michigan State Police have blocked off entry into the tunnel, established a perimeter, sent in bomb sniffing dogs, a couple of guys on Segways, and have a bomb patrol robot ready to deploy. The tower that we're in is the one closest to the tunnel, so we're looking straight down at the activity.
One of the guys in the area has CNN.com up on his PC and is watching live feed from the CNN helicopter that we can see from our vantage point at the window. I'm done with my meeting. Normally I'd find an empty cube and get some additional work done, but......not today. I've had enough excitement the last couple of weeks to last me a bit.
