Now there is a song that if you listen to itit kinda goes against what we should be doing.......

"when everything else fails, I can go to the Rock"

why do I have to wait until everything else fails when I can go to the Rock first?

Honestly, thats why many of us wait so long to be delivered from our issues, cause we take too long going to the Rock.

I'm Climbing up on the Rough sde of the mountain...... Just a shame. No pwer barley making it type song.
Aight.  The rough side of the mountain represents  trials and tribulations and the singer  says I must hold on to God's  powerful hand   and he's   trying to stand faithful because he's trying to make it in.

I don't know if everyone will know this song, but there's an old one that says, "Whatcha come here for?  Rock Daniel!"  In all my years I haven't figured that one out.

Nessalynn I tried hard  ;D but this one  is a puzzler :-\

some songs if you really really really really really really try you can come up with a
"well maybe they meant.. .. . .", but "Whatcha come here for?  Rock Daniel!"  what's some of the rest of the words?  Just out of curiousity ;D

Some glad morning when this life is over
I'm gonna fly away, I'm gonna fly away

I don't know the rest of it.....

Then there's one about the bosom of Abraham...................most of the words escape me................I'll have to give it more thought :)

Y'all have put so many songs on here that we've been singing forever ;D  Some  glad morning when this life is over I'll fly away.  I always thought we were singing about after we die we'll go home to be with the Lord.  The I'll fly away part I thought just meant your soul leaving your body going back to the Lord.

I don't think they are saying it to call Jesus Hosanna, but instead in adoration like the people did back in the day. When Jesus rode into town, the people cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. (Matt. 21:9).
but there's the part where kirk says, "what's his name?" and the backgroung replies, "hosanna"

But where, praytell, is the smooth side of the mountain?  It's like you don't have a choice but to climb the rough side.

Is there a separate thread for lyrics that are theologically OFF or is it here?  Because I wish to bring to the table Tonex's "Everything" off the O2 album.  The chorus says, "Everything that you want, just say the word and I'll provide it for you".  Someone needs to show me that scripture.

At the same time, MaryMary's "He Said", where the chorus says "...He said, I'll do whatever you want me to do...".  Again.  Scripture, please?  He said a lot of things, but that was not one of them.

It is a big pet peeve of mine when lyrics are biblically/theologically unsound because (1) it paints an incorrect picture for unbelievers and (2) it underscores some of the bad teaching that a lot of people get anyway.

Ahhhh now there is rub....there is no smooth side, hence the admission to this thread...... The bible tells us to speak to the mountain

See, I also felt like the song "Long as I got King Jesus, I don't need nobody else." Here's what I believe, as far as opinions and things God approves, we don't need nobody else. But God also wants us to have people who we can talk to. So I agree, that in one sense that song doesn't have much meaning.

I think "Long as I got King Jesus" was written to make some cash!

Watch out ya'll for the Call and Response songs you never know what will come out. The most irritating song to hear would be "What's the Matter with Jesus....(Response)...He's Alright. Lord have mercy we should all know he is alright I Mean, my God he is a SPIRIT! He has no pain! My father's cousin..."God rest his soul" was singing this song, and he got caught up "like Brown from Madea" (LOL) and we were all singing and he was singing his heart out and he said Oh He's Alright, Oh He's Alright....When I Robbed a Bank he's Alright! I was on the Organ and ya'll I almost fell off the seat in the middle of the song. The music section was torn up the whole service. Even the pastor said we got to start learning new songs.

Please everyone when you are doing Call and Repsonse songs don't air out your dirty laundry "trust" you are forgiven under the Blood of Jesus. LOL!

I played for a youth choir once and they wanted me to play "Trouble In my way"
I refused to do it and I told them why. Some of the older ones didn't understand why I wouldn't play the song. I asked them "which one of you lay awake at night because of troubles. Your mama and daddy is taking care of you. You don't havd no troubles "Yet". everything is on your parents.  As someone said, People listen to the beat of songs and they don't know much about the word of God to compare it to . The next thing is --THEY WILL BREAK UP THE CHOIR AND CHURCH IF YOU TELL THEM ANY DIFFERENT!!

Thank you for opening this topic. I can't get with those songs either. We still need some teaching from the pulpit to help this.

I live in Louisiana. It is so sad here with that kind of thing.
