Church Musician: Skilled, Gifted or Anointed?

Skilled, Gifted or Anointed?

As a musician, you are a vital part of the ministry of your church.  I believe no matter what degree, the church you serve benefits by your talent.

A person that is skilled have been taught well the techniques of their profession.  A gifted musician/singer may not need as much formal training and can operate within their natural gift.  Now a ANOINTED individual has the touch of God in what they do (like David) and can be skilled or gifted.  Yet, this is not applicable to everyone that puts their hand to an instrument or mic because being anointed in something means that you FIRST know that this is your calling.

The question I pose for this thread is, "Are you skilled, gifted or anointed in what you do?"  I do believe there is a difference (some many disagree) between them and it is distinguishable to many.

I would say yes... You can be a gifted musician but lack the skills necessary to perfect your gift.... Or have a desire in your heart to be a musician and may be gifted in that area but never expond upon it... Thereby enabling yourself from becoming the best Musician you can be....

I would say that sometimes your anointing surprises you. I can tell folks that there were things that I was anointed to do, such as teaching the Bible, and I did not know it until I was doing it . . . . I just knew I was doing what the Holy Ghost told me to do.

But under certain circumstances, when I just obeyed GOD, the same anointing showed up; GOD showed me that I was anointed to teach the Bible.

Anointing is placed on us for a purpose; the purpose of the anointing is to break yokes. First in us, then in others.

A person can be skilled and gifted, and therefore really do well in an area . . they can motivate and inspire people, and move their emotions . . . but no one will be delivered without GOD's anointing somewhere in the situation.

Just my 2 cents . . .

You have to have a combination of all three with the anointing being the most abundant.  Gifts come without repentance so anyone can play an instrument.  Then there is the skill aspect where you must grow and develop your instrument.  Don't forget the parable of the talents.

But then there is that yoke breaking anointing that will set everything off.  That is the major difference between "secular" musicians and saved musicians.  There is a certain power behind our music that can't be learned.

Prayer, reading and fasting is needed to develop a great deliverance bringing, yoke breaking anointing.

Church musican: Skilled, Gifted or Anointed?

First of giving honor to GOD who is the head of my life I would like to say that a Being musican is skilled but a musican in the church should be ANointed (the holy ghost) because it is the anointing that destroys the yolk.
I can do all through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Relatively speaking, I'm skilled and somewhat gifted. I don't think I'm anointed. When I think of anointed, I think of Stevie Wonder and the pianist who plays in the church I grew up in. I'm not in their league but strive to be.

I personally wouldn't consider Stevie Wonder as anointed.  Extremely gifted maybe, but not anointed.  I believe someone thats anointed has been so to the uplifting of the kingdom.  Christ anoints one for his glorification and our edification.  Secular music doesn't do that.

I agree with you, except what you said about Stevie Wonder. Have you heard Stevie Wonder’s gospel song “Shelter in the Rain”? I believe that song is about God’s compassion during the aftermath of the Katrina crisis. True, Stevie is primarily a secular artist, but he’s playing gospel music there. That song is for God’s glory, and it “edified” me. His playing sounds anointed to me!

Wow, Stevie Wonder may be anointed, but he sure hasnt really 100% walked in that anointing yet.  If Stevie were a Gospel Artist, it would be crazy.....

And I belive Im gifted and anointed.  A gift is given to you...a skill is something you learn..and we all know what the anointing is...E'sha'ba
