Ok I have a question.

When you are a traveling drummer how are you suppose to move your kit around to different states??? Say for instance Jeremy Haynes lives in Atlanta and Kurt Carr, which is in California, wants Jeremy Haynes to do a live dvd and cd recording in L.A. Now I know Jeremy Haynes aint about to drive from Atlanta to L.A. I know he is going to fly. How is he supposed to take his kit with him? This is a live recording now and they have no kit for him to play on so they ask him to bring his own kit. Please inform me on how this works. Oh yeah do they also have him fly in early so that they can rehearse on this performance? I have been wondering how this works every  since I saw Jeremy Haynes set-up on the Shed sessionz trailer. I was wondering how he got it to California. Thanks in advance!!! All help is needed.

Musicians give the event promoter a quote "Rider" or equipment rider. Stating what gear they need for their performance.

If it is a recording session the producer and engineer and artist have a certain sound in mind (real pros do anyway...). So you may use a kit from the '60s or a company that you don't endorse JUST to get the right/required sound for the record.

For tour dates of endorsed guys the endorsment company sometimes arranges for their brand gear be sent by the local vendor.

For other tour dates the promoter or stage/tour management team will arrange for a "backline" or cartage company to bring the necessary gear for a particular venue. All kits/wood/sizes don't work for every venue.

I NORMALLY HAVE MY OWN STIKS, I TELL THEM WHAT CYMBOLS I AM GOIN TO BE USINGAND WHAT SET I WANT AND IT IS THERE AND SET UP WHEN I ARRIVE, I NORMALLY USE AROUND 7-8CYMBOLS ON MY TRAVEL KIT...........YOU BASICALLY TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT AND HOW YOU WANT IT AND IT IS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

What if I want to use my xp-80 for sound effects? I am pretty sure I can just put that in a bag and lug it on the plane with me, right? For live recordings do you fly back and forth to reahearse or do you like fly in 2-4 weeks early before the recording, rent a car, stay at a hotel, and rehearse every other day?

Oh yeah the roland xp-80 is a discontinued keyboard that almost every professional musician own.
