Hey Guys,

'Hammondman' its like you new what someone was asking me before I was asked. Today I got asked about left hand chords and soloing in the right, I made a search and here it was.

I'll definitely pass this video on, ensuring that I make notes as well. Thanks.

Hey Hammondman!
That was GREAT!
You lost me when you were explaining using the other 2 chords with the Ebmaj7.  How did you know to use those chords? and also how did you know what to play in the bass pedal?

thanks

WELL MS.SHARP,
I LOOK AT THE KEYBOARD AT A THEORITICAL POINT OF VIEW...IF YOU WANT TO SOLO ON A PERTICULAR CHORD YOU HAVE OPTIONS OPTED TO YOU TO USE...NOT REALLY SET IN STONE, BUT THEY'RE OPTIONS...IN THE EbM7 CHORD...YOU SEE THE NOTES OF THE CHORD AND ASSOCIATE THEM WITH THE SCALE DEGREE OF THE CHORD: Eb_G_Bb_D, IN THE SCALE DEGREE SIDE OF THINGS, IT'S THE 1_3_5_M7...NOW SCALE WISE IT'S THE 1 = MAJ. SCALE, 3 = MIN. SCALE, 5 = MAJOR SCALE,  M7 = MINOR SCALE....IF IT WAS A DOMINANT 7, (Db)...YOU'D PLAY THE Db MAJOR SCALE! TRY IT...YOU'LL SEE

so basically you can use whatever notes in each scale that pertain to the notes in the chord?

YOU CAN USE WHATEVER SCALE THOSE NOTES ARE IN THE CHORD!

Fm7 CHORD, (FAbCEb), YOU CAN USE THE:

Fm SCALE
Ab MAJOR SCALE
Cm SCALE
Eb MAJOR SCALE

Any clearer???

While I understand that I can use these scales, whenever I try to use them they sound sooooooo bland and lifeless. Any suggestions?

Now, I'm saying that I just play the scale. For example, if I'm playing an Fm7, I'll try to play the Fm scale, but it sounds boring. Just wanted to be clear.

HELLO SJONATHON,

OK...IN Fm YOU HAVE AT LEAST THREE OTHER SCALE OPTIONS FOR SCALING...THE Ab MAJOR, Eb MAJOR AND THE Cm SCALE...AND YOU CAN SWITCH UP WITH THEM ALSO, AND YOU CAN USE THOSE SCALES FOR THE WHOLE KEY OF F, ( F_Bb_C or THE 1_4_5 ) BECAUSE THE NOTES OF EACH OF THOSE SCALES ARE IN THE 1_4_5  OF THAT KEY. NOW BECAUSE YOU PLAY AN Eb SCALE FOR THE Fm DON'T MEAN THAT YOU HAVE TO START ON THE Eb! YOU CAN START AND END ON THE Bb  DOING THE Eb SCALE..YA FOLLOW ME? TRY IT OUT...IT'LL ADD A DIFERENT SOUND TO THE CHORD....THESE SCALES CAN BE DECEPTIVE CADENCE-LIKE BECAUSE THE CHORD IS A MINOR, BUT THE SCALE YOU'RE PLAYING ISNT...BUT IT'S STILL A MINOR, LOL!!!

TRY THIS, IN Ab THE Fm IS THE 6TH...PLAY A SONG IN Ab, AND WHEN YOU GO TO THE 6TH...PLAY THE Fm7 IN YOUR LEFT HAND AND PLAY THE Eb SCALE..STARTING IN Bb AND END ON Bb....THEN DO AGAIN, USING THE Ab MAJOR SCALE, BUT START AND END ON THE C! TRY IT OUT AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

THIS GOES FOR YOU TOO CESHARP!!! :D

you know, I like the sound of that, Hammondman.

so, let me ask this......could I play a pentatonic scale from the different. For example, while playing the fm7 chord in my left hand, can I play the Eb pentatonic scale from Bb?
