Whoa.  :o :o

I'm not gon' talk about how unnecessary that is. If he wants to twirl, then by all means twirl.

However, I'm you're gonna be a twirler ... then that's how you DO IT!!!

Usually after I see something more than once, I'm less than impressed than I was the first time.

So, this time .... he get's a "Whoa" and 1 shocked face --->  :o

The thing that's killing me is he's playing traditional grip. I just can't get the mechanics of that grip. NIce post!

Man, I really wanna learn all of that stick twirling stuff.  I just wanna be more dynamic with my playing.  If anybody knows any sites that show you how to do that, please let me know.  Thanks everybody.

I was so ready to bash this clip before I saw it. This guy has really be watching Virgil Donati and Thomas Lang and Marco Minnemann and Bobby Jarzembak. At any rate dude has mad skills overall. When you get to that level of playing I guess twirling is the next step. He has got 4-way independence going so why not, you know. A lot of that may also have come from competitive drum corp.

okay...next  :D

Lol! I wish... No its not me - I should have been clear about things in my first post though.
But. as said in my first post... I enjoy watching it.

The drummer is Dylan Elise. I know him through my NZ drumming forum. http://drums.2.forumer.com/index.php?
Actually I'll post a link to some other vids in the bucket/sreet drumming thread. He busks in the streets of our capital city Wellington.

Depondrums - there is some pretty good info on stick twirling on the GC forum in the drumming section. I am not big on stick twirling myself as said but I still try to help with knowledge when asked for.

Good showmanship. I would pass this on to the drummer at my church, however he over plays enough already. He does the twirling stuff some of the time just not in time and it is terrible on the groove. I feel like putting my bass down and twirling him, lol. :-\ Undecided! Fam what you'll think?

Peace

This is the most important question ........

Does that dude have a girlfriend?? I'm willing to bet he doesn't, lol. A lot of sacrifice has to be made to get to that level of playing, LET ALONE, that level of twirling...

Somebody said there's only a  few good drummers out there in NZ...... ???
Hopefully they're not all like him cos' that dude is a monster. And as Sabe noticed, the guy got the whole Virgil Donati stuff down. You can tell by his grip which is so similar to his as well as the tom tom fill he does.I'm sure the kid has been watching Virg 's "POWER DRUMMING" dvd over and over again, and shedding his bones off as well to get to that level.
Don't know how old he is but for sure,he's way ahead of all the wonder drummer kids we've seen so far.His technique, independence, control,is totally outstanding, assuming he's still in his teens. For real,he beats any Tony or guys like that.Much more well rounded.Love Tony tho',but i'm almost convinced this kid can already play a lot of different styles which is not the case for many others that age.

As far as twirling,Sabe said it all. It's def, the next step technique wise, when the rest is so solid.Shouldn't be the other way around anyway.

Whew,i must say that cat blew me away and it's not so often.I've seen a lot of drummers twirl and as much as i love it,i was expecting a "deja vu" thingy. That's why i was in total awe the whole clip.

Thanx for that. And congratulate the man for me. ;)

well ima marcher myself, so i know about the whole drumline traditional grip and the twirling thing......and i will that i am impressed !!!!......this guys awsome.......most definitely the some drumline and the BIG V's power dvd..

and to get the style o the traditional grip, all it takes is practice........and im sure you use ur wrist but.............use ur wrist.........on the drumline what we do(well at least me an my fellow "cadence drummers" do) is to practice on the gladstone pad (its completely awsome) cuz it totally makes u raise your wrist up, and pillows "(of course) but..................................wi th hammers. ;) ;)............hehehehehehehe...........th at will really build your strength............................. but it will kill your sensitivity unless you work with th sticks back and forth on the drum pad you know, to get your control and your speed under speedy control.....hehe..

But yeah any way that guys awsome........ ;D.
