SONGS FOR TOMORROW
« on: March 25, 2006, 10:37:12 AM »
HELLO MUSICIANS,

My name is Brian and I just recently started learning how to play the keyboard, so this is a learning process. I don't have any songs to play for tomorrow, and I am having a hard time trying to learn songs that are to advanced for me. So could you please take the time out to post simple praise and worship songs. Any song will do, but I would really like to learn Lord I lift your name on high, always time to dance,crazy praise, wonderful,awesome in this place,and because of who you are. Please feel free to post any song that you think will help me minister to god's people tomorrow. I am only 14 so this is sorta overwhelming for me! GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Here is Lord i lift your name on high

LORD I LIFT YOUR NAME ON HIGH
arr. by Will

Here the skeleton of the 'Lord I Lift Your Name On High'. For the beginners who don't know me, I don't post
chords. I give you the number to make it easier for ya to transpose. Sorry you're on ya own for the melody (It
good training for your ear).

Let go over some basic.

Key of C:

This is your road map below

Scale =       C  D  E  F  G  A  B  C

Roman # = I  II  III  IV  V  VI  VII  I

II = major chord (ex. Dmaj)

ii = minor chord (ex. Dmin)

Let's decipher the last two measures in the key of C: | IV  ii, V | I - - - |

According to our road map, we see the following.

IV = Fmaj

ii = Dmin

V = Gmaj

I = Cmaj

So you play the last two measure like this:

| Fmaj  Dmin, Gmaj | Cmaj - - - |

Count | 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 |

Hope this helps.

Key:

[ chords ] = use these if going back to beginning

|| : : || = play section again b4 moving on

-    = quarter note. The song is in 4/4 time

IV / VI = chord / bass note

Let me state that the bass note don't have to be the root. It could be the third or fifth of the chord.

Ex. Lh / Rh

C /CEG

E / CEG

G / CEG

Experiment to find the sound you like. ( pssssIt call being creative)

Enjoy and have fun.

Lord I Lift Your Name On High

|| : I - IV - | V  IV/VI, V/VII :|| (These two measure repeat until you get to 'From the cross' )

Lord I lift Your name on high

Lord I love to sing Your praises

I'm so glad You're in my life

I'm so glad You came to save us

You came from heaven to earth to show the way

From the earth to the cross my debt you pay

||: I  IV - | V - vi, iii- | IV  ii, V | I - [IV/VI, V/VII] :||

From the cross to the grave, From the grave to the sky, Lord I lift Your name on high

Tip

Don't be a shame to write it out on paper. Pick a key you want to play in and write it out on paper. Take the
paper with you. Try to imagine a keyboard in your mind and how you would play each chord, (don't worry
about have the melody on top; assume there a horn or guitar player playing the melody). This will help you
when you sit down at the piano because you already know what the chord looks like. When you start to
practice the chord either sing or hum the melody and play the chord underneath (this is like playing behind a
singer). Once you have the chord down, changing the voicing to match the melody will be no problem.

Until next time.

God's love,
Will
