Personally, I'm all for pushing the technical "limits" - but not at the cost of musicality. Imagine if drummers became obsessed with mastering groove??

That's where I'm at now. I want that groove that'll make your head nod, til your neck runs out of cartilage....

Technique, in my opinion, should only be a means to a a more musical end. Not a musical means to a technical end....

The groupies (most of the time) you mean? The group of guys screaming like lil girls and doing the pee-pee dance? (yeah, I said and I haver even sat in that section a time or two).... This is the section of jokers with the least amount of influence and buying power. They are so close to you that they cannot support your record because you give it to them  They cannot get you a job because they sound just like you.

The same guys that are so busy watching your chops that they don't notice you pedal spring coming a loose and worst yet don't know how to come and fix it or are too clean to run up get down on their knees and fix your pedal or swap out theres so that you can finish your set without looking like an idiot. They won't bring you another snare or  come tune up your snare when the lugs start to detune do to rim shots and you are sounding like mud....

That's right impress them! Because they care so much and can make your career.
