Halfsteppin' Choirs

How can you have a good choir when half the choir is not present during choir practice?!! This is one thing that really gets on my nerves. Our choir always wants to go everywhere and sing but don't want to come to practice. We learn new songs for the few that is there. Then come Sunday everybody's in the choir and half don't know the new songs....it's just a shamble. It's enough to make you want to leave the choir but I haven't. How can you get a choir motivated to do what is required of them?? If it were up to me if you didn't practice, you wouldn't sing. I know some choirs like that. That's a good policy....

MY WIFE IS THE CHOIR DIRECTOR FOR OUR SMALL LIL CHURCH CHOIR (ABOUT 10 IN THE CHOIR OR IS IT A GROUP  ;D) BUT HER RULE IS: IF YOU DON'T COME TO REHEARSAL THEN U DON'T SING.  AND THE SAME APPLIES TO THE MUSICIANS.  IF U DON'T KNOW IT, U CAN'T PLAY IT.

At the church I use to attend, there was this young man who came to church quite often.  He loved to sing.  However, whenever the choir would sing, he would go to the choir stand and sing with the choir.  After talking to him and telling him that if he didn't come to choir practice he would not be able to sing.  He sung anyway.  Our choir sung at a nursing home and lo and behold, who shows up.

To make  long story short, he got into the choir stand to sing, and we sang something that I know he didn't know.  Part of the song is in spanish (heeheehee).  After that day, he didn't come into the choir stand anymore.

Have the video ministry tape them singing on a bad day and show it at the next rehearsal. We did this one time and it helped remind us about conduct in the chior, where to stand and looks on our faces when we sing/play

?/?Trust me your not alone,i think it's just that man from down stairs trying his ole stuff.
In my chior, you don' sing either. The only thing that has worked for a little while,is that my Paster would, unexpectantly show up at rehersal, and if he had too, give the chior a lil talking too.He would ask wear certen individuals were, also, would change the format,to work with whats there, and assing new leaders,to lead songs, even if it was someone else's.You cant get so bighjeaded sa to not remember who your singing to the glory for.....
Let your voice, be one voice, to Glorify the Lord.
