as they were talking KRistian came running up and said "Pastor, i forgot to get the address to the church" Pastor quickly turned around "i'm glad you came back let me introduce you to one of my member..." but before he could mouth her name..Krisian interjected" Rachel..." "you two know each other? It's a small world after all isn't it" "actually we just met a little while ago " Kristian explained.. "i know God must be talking to me now..i find  my new church home and then find out that  my future wife attends the same church all in the same day." Rachel blushes to herself and can't believe the irony of the whole situation...

Why was her hand shaking? Was she still that scared of him?

"Why you shaking, Rachel? Don't you know me?"

Maybe it was her own temper that made her spit out,"Yeah, I know you Jermaine. I know you real well. Excuse me, but I'm tired and I think you'll understand if I don't invite you in."

That look came across Jermaine's face. She knew that look. She looked around the hall, no one around . . . oh, no . . .

"Rachel? Little sister?" It was her pastor, just getting off the elevator . . .

Her pastor walked towards the two of them and stood real close to Rachel, looking Jermaine up and down. He extended his hand. "Hi, I'm Pastor Hallworth."

There was something about this pastor that made Jermaine change that face that scared Rachel. Pastor Hallwaorth was a man of GOD, but he was a man's man, too. Three years in the Marines on the boxing team, ten years on the police force before he went to Bible college . . . this man was no joke.

And he would protect his flock from the devil . . . and anyone the devil chose to use.

Jermaine went into his street, lip-smaking and nervous persona that made Rachel smile. Jermaine only did that when he was scared.

"Well, I was just talking to this lady, here . . . yanno, pastor . . . "

"No, I don't know." Pastor Hallworth turned to Rachel. "Are you okay, little sister?"

"I'm fine, pastor," Rachel lied. Why couldn't she trust this pastor, who now was more like an angel than a preacher?

Ackward silence was broken by the pastor telling Jermaine, "Young man, unless you live here in the appartment complex maybe you should go home."

Jeramaine started to replay, but one look in Pastor Hallworth's face made him think twice. He slinked down the hallway and went down the stairwell.

Pastor Hallsworth tuned to Rachel, who was crying. He helped her inside, then made her promise that she would talk to the first lady. Driving home, he prayed for Rachel. He knew that Rachel needed a big sister figure now . . .

After pastor had left… Rachel felt a little better… She realized that nobody but God told him to come her way… She was dealing with a lot of emotions… She took a shower, washing all of her cares away… She got dress and went to run her errand… As the time grew closer to seeing Kristian again… She got her pep back… She was back on point…

She walked into the church about 15 minutes late… they were already in prayer… so she made her way to a seat in the back to join in… but as she looked towards the front of the church someone caught her eye… Could it really be him….

It was! The janitor at the school where Rachel was teaching! The dear old man that she talked to after his wife left him. She had been witnessing to him, and he said he would come to church, but she really didn't beleive him. But there he was . . .

She stood up and titled her head a little and yes it was the janitor… She was shocked to see him because he always brushed him off… He would listen to what she had to say but every time she brought up church he would say that he has to go… That brought a instant smile to her face… She thought about all the times he said no and here he is… She let out a "Thank you Jesus…” just then she heard someone from behind her say… “Yes Thank You Lord” She recognized the voice and the way he said it gave her chills… she opened her eyes and looked behind her and was greeted with a smile that could light up an auditorium… It was Kristian She quickly turns away so that he doesn’t see her blushing… he then closes his eyes and continues to pray all the while taking little  peeks at her

After prayer was over with… they began their worship service… Kristian tries to walk over to her to say hi but….

The worship leader announced that they wanted a special singer, Sis Rachel, to come up and give an A and B selection.

Rachel almost get into her flesh at that moment. David, the worship leader, was smiling at her from the mic. In the short few months that she had been at this church (the church name was too long to print out here) she had learned that David had a bad habit of calling people up for things without telling them first. Rachel's aunt called it "making a program in his head." And now it was Rachel's turn to be on the program.

People were looking around with surprised but pleased faces. David said that he was going to put Rachel on the spot one day, since he found out that she had the most beautiful mezzo-soprano voice. And she could play some, too . . . she almost completed a music minor in college. It was obvious to everyone that David liked Rachel, but Rachel knew that she had never given off any signals, so if the brother wanted to be deluded that was up to him.

"Come on, Sis Rachel. We want to hear you sing. Let's give her a hand of encouragement, saints!"

Clapping and smiles all around. Rachel smiled shyly as she went up to the mic. She loved singing, but hadn't sang much in public since Jermaine . . . he told her she needed to stop singing, stop school, stop anything that made her feel special. She decided, in the forty seconds that it took her to get to the front, that she would start off with "Eye on the Sparrow" and end up with a rocking victory chant of "Hail Jesus Your My King." That was how she felt with the events of the past few hours.

Looking out over the audience, she prayed a short prayer of strength, and then in a sweet falsetto started her song . . .

"Why should I feel
Discouraged? And why . . .

Should the shadows
Come?

Why should my heart feel lonely . . . "

Crackling in the mic. A couple of worship leaders went to monitors to see what was going on, but the crackling got louder . . . and Rachel got more nervous. Oh, no . . . I forget the words when I get nervous . . .

She closed her eyes and continued singing..

"... and long for heaven and home

Since Jesus is my portion..."

About then she heard the sweetest piano playing begin to accompany her, and she opened her eyes to see who else, but Kristian sitting on the piano smiling back at her.

She felt confidence begin to well up from the inside as she sang and he played.  He seemed to know every rift before she sang it, it was like they together made up one beautiful, transcending ballad of praise that floated ever so gloriously into the heavens...

She completes the song with a lil worship praise break… But when she attempted to start hail Jesus you’re my king… The anointing in that place just hit a new high… She started off and it was as if an angel had taken over… She sang her lil heart out… Going back and forth and trotting across the front of the stage… the spirit was totally high… once the song finally  calmed down she looked over to see Kristian to thank him… and she noticed that he had tears in his eyes… She figured that he was moved by the song… she whispered “Thank You” to him… He shook his head yes and blew her a kiss… She turned away to walk off the stage and when she happened to look back he was gone…

She looked for him after she sat down but he was nowhere to be found…. They went on with the worship service… but in the back of her mind she wanted to know the REAL reason why he was crying…. During the pastors lesson on Faith and Trust… Kristian walks back into the sanctuary… Rachel immediately notices him and she feels a sense of calm….

They could only sing for a few minutes, however, before they were joined by another voice . . . David's. His aptness for improving songs was now used to cut in on Rachel's song. But the church loved hearing David's baritone voice, and they clapped as he broke into the song.

Rachel wondered how anyone could miss David's reason for breaking into the song, but Rachel knew that many people wanted to be entertained and as long as they were they were happy. So they sang that song like they knew it could be sung . . . even Kristian was unaware of why David was in the mix.

After the two selections, Rachel sat down and found out to her surprised that the pastor's wife would be teaching tonight. She loved to hear the first lady teach, even though she usually wound up preaching. And she was intrigued with the subject for tonight which was . . .

PLEASE DO!  There is romance and worship....now in order to be a best seller (from LGM PUBLISHING), then there has to be some drama.

I was honestly thinking of developing this into a script to present during LGM Weekend in July....but it's just a thought!
