Yo can u guys name any gospel songs dat a drummer's approach, timing, fills and pocket had so much to do with the song i was just perfect? I was listening 2 Kurt Carr's In da Sanctuary, Jeremy Haynes played dat song to the max n it was so rich n full.

There's a singer from Houston named Yolandra Simmons-Jones. Her group is called "Purpose" and the album is called The Giver of Life. Mark Simmons (her brother and 1 of the 2 greatest drummers to ever come out of Houston) plays EVERY song like that. Sput plays EVERY song like that on Myron Butler's CD and Ted and Sheri's latest CD. Watch CeCe Winans's Throne Room DVD and LaDell Abrams does that the whole concert.

Any good drummer should play to make each song feel good and authentic. And that's not just an opinion.

Peace

...and I'll add that Marvin McQuitty's playing on P.O.L. 3  Live from Chicago DVD is Superb as well.  Add this one to the list.

that percussion solo he did in there was just breath taking man, i also liked rock that, which is something my band at church learned as well as the way he plays on fantasy, something about that song, my brother has the ending part looped three times on his computer and sent it to the ipod like that. mr emory is just bananas
