Message from Tyler Perry (2006-05-08)
« on: May 08, 2006, 02:57:21 PM »
What's up Everybody it's TP.

Today is the big day; "House of Payne" comes on TV in New York and Houston.
Can you believe it? You ever have something happen to you that feels out of body?
Well, that's been my life lately, and God is good.
Like my grandfather used to say "I dare you to try Him."

I wanted to share this moment with all of you, and a few close friends so I decided to have a small get together at my place in New York. I thought it would be fun to watch and celebrate with my friends. I was going to cook dinner, notice I said, "Was Going to."
I tried to fry some chicken and I burned it.  Looks like I will be calling the caterers. It's good to be able to say that because I remember a day when we would have ate that chicken. As a matter of fact I might put some jerk sauce on it and call it a day. I hate wasting food.

Anyway, today is Monday and the show is airing today.
I have such a since of peace about it. What I've learned in life and especially in my walk with God is to just do all you can do and let Him do the rest.
Faith without work is dead. So, I've done the work and now it's time for the faith. With all of that said, do your thing Houston and New York.  Now, I know the rest of the country wants to see "House of Payne" and I'm sure you will. It's up to New York and Houston to pull in big numbers for us.  The first ten cities will dictate how the rest of the country sees these shows.
So, it is very important that you watch not only for you but also for someone else in another city.  Again here are the times in New York and

God Bless,

 Tyler Perry

P.S.  by the way for all of you who are looking for a mothers day Idea or gift. Madea's book has put a lot of smiles on people's faces.  "Don't make a Black woman take off her earrings" is in stores everywhere.

WELL.....I just saw it......and it was pretty WEAK.  Can't say I am surprised as I am not a big fan of his.....but I can see why this is not a long term thing.....onyl ten episodes....if those get aired.

I saw he sent a letter explaining that he had a disagreement with the networks over the direction and content of the show, and that he essential took the ten shows he made and pulled out.  PLEASE.....how convenient.  If anything....them people were probably trying to help make imporvements on what turned out to be a poor quality show.

I find it problematic when people get a certain amount of fame and noteriety....so much so to the point that all of sudden they think they can do EVERYTHING themselves without help.....so they dont have to share the profits.  BAD MOVE on his part.  He needed someone to direct the MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION movie and he needed someone else to direct this show.  Weak and new actors need a STRONG DIRECTOR....and that's what this show deserved.  His little success with them plays don't translate to all forms of media.  A smart rich man knows to use that money to hire someone who knows what they are doing.

And no...I'm not hating.....I was hoping for this to be a successful endeavor....but was sorely disappointed.  The characters were very COOKIE CUTTER and CORNY.

And can I ask a question.......WHY HE ALWAYS GOT TO HAVE A CRACKHEAD MOMMA in his stuff?  Never seen his plays so I dont know if that's a common theme in that too?

The show was ok. I was hoping that it would be a success, but it was almost too expected. You knew that she was gonna be crackhead...it was surely coming. The plays are awesome and I love Tyler Perry, just not sure if i'm feeling the show, but i'll surely keep watching it to see if it'll get better.

Getting off topic: You would really call me a hater. Tell you why, I say that Madea sholud have been played by a female from jump street and not a man in women's clothes.(just the jist of it).
We all sin, we falter, but God forgives.

It would not have the same effect if it were not him playing Madea......sorry.

I was kidding about the earlier posts.....you know I'm all about people sharing the truth and how they feel.....continue to do so....
