Another thing that really bothers me is the lack of Respect for Female Musicians....

****Said wholeheartedly but, is still trying to get brownie points lol...****

It may just be up here in Upstate NY but It is some Monsters up here But Cats be sleeping on them ...... I use(I miss her) to date this one Girl that kicked Set she was Dumbsick on the Drums and she was fiinne too.. wheeeeeeeeeeew anyways Her Church was on program at another church I went along with her to the service the church was like an hour away 5 minutes prior to arriving she realizes she forgot her gig bag at her church all she had was her stick case We get there and the Band Setup was Nice They had a Hammond B3, Motif Keyboard, A 6 string Warwick with a Swr 4 X10 Cab and SWR Sm 900 Bass Head and a Sweet Mahogany Tama Allstar Drum set (It's good to pay attention) So I knew it had to be some serious Music going on in there............

The drummer that was there was nice a lil arrogant tho.... they called for my Girl's Choir to come up so she walked over there to the Drums(Just as Fine as she wannabe..) and Dude acted like he did not want to get up and when he did he took his Pic and Put the standard Snare on I can tell just by the look in her Eyes she was Ticked off I was Cracking up only because I knew she was bout to Thump a Hole in that Set SO thats' when I went up there and got on the Keyboard ( I usually don't do that Cause, I did not know those songs But Im use to Catching on Plus, I had to comfort my Boo) anyways the song started
and about 3 minutes after that ....LOL Ole Boy Face was beat Red I was Cracking up He kept apoligizing Like "I am so sorry I did not know you can bang like that" He even apoligized to me ...LOL ... It was funny But it's sad that MOST of us men automatically assumes a Women can't get the Job done..

thats funny to me man i remember and YES I DO HAVE A GIRLFRIEND lol but i remember i friend had invited me to come to his church here in Lakeland so i went they had some visiting churches there and i remember when i first got to the church it was this red bone girl standing outside i mean she was bad she had natural hazel eyes natural long good hair she wasnt a dime she was A DOLLAR anyways when church started i saw her get on the drums and from my instincts i was like she too fine to be playing the drums and i was like she probaly aint that good cus i play the bass,drums and keyboard myself so the service went on and when she started playing i was like OH MY GOG lol i couldnt believe what i was hearing that girl was bad i saw her last week at that church again im guessing shes from jacksonville she sooooo fine i be scared to say hi to her and thats a shame but hey WOMEN ARE BAD TOO

Interestingly enough, some female musicians would see this convo as lack of respect.

I mean, do you think the reason why many guys can't respect a female musician ... is because they've been reduced them to mere objects of beauty & sexual desire? I mean, I'm callin' myself out too. We don't describe male musicians(Those of us who aren't attracted to males, lol) physical appearance. Is it a coincidence that we judge men based off of their ability, then? It's the opposite with women. They have to be GREAT to be accepted. It's not fair - but it's the way things are, you know?

It's no wonder that women, in male-dominated fields ... don't like to let their guards down.

I understand what you are saying Just being truthful and I hope I am not disrespecting any body or their Views but it is Very refreshing to see a Female on a instrument it's attractive in it's self

I come from a area where Women are dominant in the church SO I am use to seeing Women being used by GOD in every content of the Word Yes it is Sad that they are judged first by there looks Cuz God uses whom he please.. EXAMPLE DEBRA KILLINGS AND SHE JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE.......FINE

But wait a minuite WOMEN JUDGE TOO I DATED a musician for almost 3 years and of course she her music homegirls would sit around and talk about who's Dimed out and Beasting and they all act like they can Drink Spanky's(Tye Tribbett) Bath water.. I got sick of hearing that all the time But it's like that on both sides of the Fence...

Well...
I too had been on that side. i always had this crush on a Light sknned, Beautiful shaped, long hiared girl.(I'm so attracted to light girls)
Well anyways, she was so beautiful i had to get her name. I asked her and she said "Sondra"(Ohhh Lord a beautiful name to go wit da girl)
So i got to my place on the Keyboard at the Church Convocation and the Sondra got on the electric piano. I waz like hmmm can she bang? The devotional song started out and she waz KILLIN!!!!!!
I juz sat there and watched until I was told that i can start plaing now(sarcastically) If there's anything that gets me totally attracted, It's a light skinned girl that can play music any type of way.(Sing, drums, piano(especially piano))

I think the the reason female musicians aren't respected is 'cause they are the minority in terms of popular musicians. I know some female musicians who are phenominal and I know some male musicians who are terrible. I listen for a good and decide like that it has nothin to do with sex.

One of my favorite musicians is Cassandra O'neal and she IS fine. LOL!

WOW I actually got some responses..lol

The thing I dont understand is Why are WE (men) so shocked when we see a Female that is "ON THE LEVEL" I grew up in a Church that had 3 Organists' and they were NASTY and they were all Females As a Kid that's all I seen... Never seen too many Female Drummers back in the Day But I always seen Female Organists' Shoot... I learned from a Female Organist She attends my Church till this Day.... Fluent in Every Single Key and Very Seasoned in her Craft and Just as Humble as she wants to be That's another Post in it's self... as far as judging Physical attributes before skill I believe we all (well I know I do) do that Men and Women..... of Course I'm not gonna (Physically) judge a Man like I would a woman but every Musician does that or is it just Regional??

Like the other person was saying we shouldn't look at the gender, that's wring with a lot of people today, we are too busy looking at a gender and we are losing our focus. So I respect womenn to the highest as Teachers, Musicians, Preachers, Ministers, Pastors, Presiding Elders, and Bishops.
