What Books?
« on: May 31, 2006, 12:42:03 PM »
What books will make me a better musician?  I like "The Jazz Theory Book" by Mark Levine, the Hannon Book, and Bartok for sight-reading.

The Jazz Theory Book covers scales, runs, and techniques used by professional jazz musicians.

Hannon focusses on finger control and dexterity.

Bartok starts with reading music with simple fingers and progresses.  It is written in modes instead of major or minor keys,  this keeps you from using your ear to cheat.

So what books do yo recommend?

The Jazz book I have heard good things about. Search at amazon.com, sometimes they allow you search within the book.
