Who's being discriminated against?
« on: June 13, 2006, 01:39:37 PM »
I work for an international, Fortune 500 company.  We are constantly moving and changing projects.  Well, a group just moved in on the floor above us.  We had a conference room on that floor but they said they needed it, so we gave it to them.  Well, the project is for a project we're working on in either India or Pakistan.  Come to find out that they have converted that room, or one of the rooms up there into a muslim prayer room!  I mean it is solely dedicated to be a place where those who work on the project and happen to be of the muslim faith can go and pray.  Yet, we hear of companies breaking up bible studies that we are having on our lunch breaks.  That seems a little off to me.

I find that there are a lot of lenience’s for those of the Muslim faith in an attempt not to discriminate against them, and those in doing so are discriminating against those of another faith. Whilst I was in school on a Thursday afternoon three students would always turn up 45mins late and stated that they had to go to the mosque to pray.

This was found acceptable every time and caused no inquiry that some of the Muslim students actually started to mistreat this show of understanding but the teaching faculty. Its something to think about really, when we try not to discriminate by incorporating a group of people, are we discriminating against other people by the action we take.

.....the "sarcastic militant enters the room"........

It's all about money.  Obviously the Pakastani company carries alot of clout and a very big pocketbook....and noboby wants to offend a VERY BIG pocketbook.  Unfortunately money talks.
I'd rather be imperfectly inspired, than to be perfectly entertained...
