Saints, do you actually think that they praised GOD in dance back in the Bible days like we praise GOD in dance now? A while back, who would have sat you down?

The old saints also would give some of us lapclothes for the length of some of the sister's dresses, tell some of the sisters to take off their makeup and their earrings, tell them to wear heels no longer than "so high," tell us that it was a sin to play basketball or football and you better not play even if it did get you a scholarship to college . . . the list goes on. I love the old saints, too . . . they were sincere and strong, but they were not right about everything.

And if everyone in the charismatic movement praises GOD through dance the same way . . . ways that are acceptable to everyone in the church . . . . then could not someone possibly say that they are not imitating each other? How much "practice" did it take before those people with "acceptable dances" got their moves down pat?   :o Oops, yes I said it.

And do we actually think that we can tell the sincerity of someone's walk with GOD through their dance? Come on, folks. If they have the proper steps right, could drug dealers and pimps and hookers dance in the chruches where everyone would "sit this young man down?" Maybe the young man was expressing joy the only way he knew how. he sure looked sincere by the expression on his face.

There was another person who didn't like wild dancing . . . her name was Michal, David's wife . . . . and she rebuked him for the way he danced and . . . well, you know the story.

 ;)

3 whole pages and you show up  ;D

You made one point in your post that I believe needs to addressed.  You talked about the "old saints".  Surprisingly, as I've gone back over some of the responses, most people who've commented on this are relatively "young saints" 25 years of age and youner.   Which in a way is scary.

This is evident because people still call the act of dancing before the Lord "Shouting" which is not the biblical connotation of the word.   This is what happens when we don't elevate our Christian experience and limit ourselves to hearing what the "old saints" have to say, which you already stated, they weren't right about everything.

Shouting is done with your.......mouth!  It is AUDIBLE, i.e.   SHABACH - Yeah a lot of people sing the song, but do they know what it means?  ?/? ?/? A TOWDAH PRAISE, TEHILLAH PRAISE,  HALAL PRAISE, etc.

I know folk have used the term for "SHOUT" to describe a dance for years.   Some PERSON coined that phrase and it stuck .... BUT IT AIN'T RIGHT.   And it saddens me when I read that someone thinks that God would strike this young man down for his style or Exhortation!

Just because you or your bishop do not recognize it as "Holy, Reverant or Acceptable in YOUR SIGHT" has nothing to do with God receiving his praise.  While a lot of people, I'm sure, would be pointing, nudging and judging...just remember, who's judging you!

Someone said Thank God he wasn't at my church...... I'm thanking God he wasn't at your church too!  2Cor 3:17  says Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of God is, there is liberty.

Ok, let me pose these questions to y'all:

Do you need music to "dance" for God?   ?/?

Do you think if this church didn't have music would he "dance" like he was dancing?   ?/?

No absolutely not, you don't need music to dance.  I've been in churches where people exhort the Lord in dance without musical instrumentation, only clapping of hands and singing.

Does music help..... ALWAYS!  ..... but I'm not sure what you mean ....."like he was dancing?"

Where do we get  this "Holy, Acceptable" Dance... Who started it.... Who deemed it THE WAY and obviously THE ONLY WAY to Dance before the Lord?

Not how, but the spirit behind the dance.  Like I said the Holy Ghost bears witness with himself...

i have also seen people shout,or dance to exhort the Lord without music, but i was never taught to judge there way either...

this has made me have to do some reading, and when i get it,i'll be back...

stay steadfast, focused, and blessed my brothers, and sisters.

When I say "like he was dancing", I mean with the slides, moves, motions.  Do you think his dance would be the same if there were no music?  I have been in churches as well where there was no music as we call it.  We used tamborine, clapping, stomping, and scrubboard.

Yes, we all "practice" shouting.  But, I truly believe that when the Spirit of God comes in, he gives us a dance no matter how much we have practiced.  My sister and I use to play church when we were younger.  When we "shouted", we were tired.  Now, when our children play and we "shout" out of the Spirit, we get tired QUICK!!!  But, when we are in the Spirit, tiredness is no where to be found.  See what I mean?

I could be wrong, but I believe BBoy, was being a bit sarcastic here.

....Yes, we all "practice" shouting.  But, I truly believe that when the Spirit of God comes in, he gives us a dance no matter how much we have practiced.

And if I'm reading your statement correctly, you seem to be saying that you do, or we all do, practice "shouting".  Then you say when the Spirit of God comes in, he gives us a dance.....

So if the Spirit is the one giving us the dance, how can we interpret what the dance should look like ....slides, moves, motions, jumps, leaps, going in circles,  bunny hop?  Personally, I've never practiced a dance/"shout", unless it was a choreographed liturgical expression of praise.

So in essence, I believe we agree.  God's Spirit Moves, we react or should, through our own unique expression, with a dance, shout, running, clapping, weeping, moaning  .... some outward expression....

and HE get's the Glory and all the Praise!

to organ man...
A. i didn't see a smile on his face...
B.Who are we to judge what is the right dance...
C,(like some on else said)what about David, and what his wife thought???

in my church i see some that shout alike, and some who just,to me,let the spirit take them...

But,maybe it's just me, i can't judge,or say anyone is fake..
i DON'T MEAN TO BE RUDE.. BUT YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T LOOK GOOD ENOUGH TOWARDS THE END. Bizzy said clear enough that he walked off like he burned the floor up, well.... if you looked closely, he had a smile to compliment that "walk"

No disrepect to you young man, nor to Bizzy!

If you're looking for someone to co-sign your remarks... Try Jesus!

You obviously won't let this rest!  Since I've seen this clip repeated in different rooms, with nothing but criticism, YOUNG MAN :'(

When you come into a place and position where YOU receive worship and praise, honor and glory then, and ONLY THEN,   can you have the final say on what is, and is not acceptable according to YOUR KINGDOM!

Otherwise, it's only your opinion, a recycled one at that.

Let someone catch you on tape for 35 seconds of your "shout" and put it on the internet...then we can REALLY talk!!

Who are we to say this was or wasnt GOD?  Your shout may be strange to others as well.  Be slow to criticize and say what YOU feel is or isnt GOD or is or isnt "in the spirit" that might be the only way he/she knows how to shout.

We have several people in our church who dont always shout in the churchs politically correct "pick em up put em down" but we are not all the same.  If we were church and life would be boring.

Matters not what we think of his praise it only matters wht God thinks of his praise...

We need only worry if our praise is acceptable unto God!

I thought this was a funny thread.

I dont think that anyone here is seriously making fun of this guy. If he is seriously praising God, then good for him. I am not judging... If he isnt though, he has to answer to God for that... not us. I personally thought it was uplifting. And he got his dance ON!!! More power to him...
