John Binky Flowers
« on: June 15, 2006, 07:49:54 PM »
Anybody heard or seen my man Binky Flowers out of Columbus Ohio lately?  I used to see him play at anunnaul International Convocation of COOLJC every year.  He used to be the main musican for the national and recording choirs back in the 1990's.  That guy was awesome and he represented Ohio well!

COOLJC does stand for Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you haven't heard of John "Binky" Flowers then you haven't been around the national  organinst click that long.  I first heard Binky at a COOLJC  youth convention about 20 years ago and was blown away.  He was the smoothest organist I had seen since Butch Heyward.  He plays in the annointing and has both the organ and piano on lock.
He hasn't played for the conventions in about 6 or 7 years I guess.  I was however fortunate to have bought one of his tapes of him playing both the organ and the keyboard.  Just him alone!  It is one of my most prized possessions.  I know Binky used to play for the late Bishop Keneth Bligen in Columbus Ohio at Rehoboth Temple.  He is really a great guy who was so humble its nt even funny.  I believe he used to play on some of the old TETREC albums in the late 80's and  early 90's.  I think his son is now playing!
I have no clips of him!
By the way which Bishop Clarke are you talking about and from where?

Yeah, Binky Flowers...I still think that cat has one of the quickest foots speeds I have seen on the organ. His pedal action is similar to Butch Woodie's. The last time I talked to him he played a fast song in the key of D through E. With toe's only no heel, toe, heel, toe at all. I can get in contact with him. I should be able to get some info on him by tomorrow.
