My laptop set up for Hammond B3 sound
« on: June 29, 2006, 09:27:09 AM »
Hello everyone,

I'm doing an outdoor service and I wanted to take a Hammond B3 sound with me. Here is my laptop using the Native Instrument B4 simulator program, usb sound module, foot pedals and powered monitor I will be using.

Yes, but I can also save preset drawbar setting and use the voice settings on the keyboard to select them.

I used to use the WK-1630 (same as the WK-1800 without the floppy drive) with the B4 simulator. The WK is an excellent workstation for a musician on a budget.

I have to the wk-3100 (built-in drawbars, but no floppy drive) it's a great board to practice with. Sam, it also adds to the Native B4 as you can control the program with the boards drawbars.
Come on praise him!...lift him up!....

MewsikHarris, are you serious? I never knew you could control the NI B4 drawbars using the drawbar buttons on the WK-3xxx. How do you set that up? I have a WK-3500, I'd like to experiment with that some time.

Sam, I'm just curious, what is the purpose of that USB sound module/mixer?

You get a better output esp when you coming out to speakers and can put several inputs in them (like a standard mixer).

Hi Sam,

I just wanted to show you the set up I use in my studio and on my lap top when I need to take an organ along.
I use a VST program called ORGANized Trio. It's a share ware prog that's free (or you can give a donation).
But I wanted to show your the controler I use also. I have an M-Audio Evolution MK_461c USB / MIDI controler.
I got it specifically for the organ prog because it has sliders for the draw bars.
I also use a yamaha powered monitor speaker MS-150 which I mount on a stand.
I did have pedals but I sold them now I need to get some more
So here's a clip of my set up

http://media.learngospelmusic.com/displayimage.php?album=66&pos=12

I used windows movie maker for this clip which I don't usually do and it has a few blips where I pasted the clips together so forgive those.  enjoy

musmin7, I really like your setup there. How did you get the brown and white slider knobs? The only thing I didn't care for was the ORGANized program. The tremolo was too pitchy and everything just sounded way too digital. But it is free after all.

I also have the B4 prog But I wanted to share this one with those who might need an alternate to get started with.
The fact that it is a free prog is much to be considered  :) But there are infinite adjustments that can be made to contour the sound
I just didn't make a lot of adustments like runing the prog in stereo and ading eq the treble is ajustable as well as the leslie speed and color contour. overdrive and the like. But when it's used and eq'ed in a mix it can sit real well.
I also use a hammond/suzuki XM-1 organd sound module (hardware) Either way it's nicer than having a static organ sample that you can't change in real time
sometimes you get what you pay for but if it's Free sometimes you get more  :).

As for the sliders I just used some Brown nail polish and Some white out to color them 123 done ;)

Hey ddw4e, I liked your setup as well. How did you record your computer screen like that?
