What are some good books or videos to assist on theory?
« on: July 05, 2006, 08:14:17 AM »
What's up LGM? I am new to this spot I've been playin the keys now for about 6-9 months. I've played many other instruments for the last 10 years. I have always played by ear even when I was in school I didnt read notes or anything. Now I think its time for me to learn the theory behind what I play to better my understanding. Does anyone know some good books or videos to help me out. Thanks Be Blessed

U can use THE Music Kit by Tom Manoff. It's what we use here at Columbia College Chicago for Intro To Theory. The entire kit is like $76. It comes with software, a rhythm reader, and an audio CD. It explains in detail each aspect of begginner theory such as how to read music, how to recognize certain intervals and even goes into the different modes.
