How tight are your resonant heads?  Your tone comes from the resonant heads.  Try experimenting with the tension of those - if that doesn't suit your ear's preference, I would suggest getting the Evans Resonant Glass, which will brighten the sound.  I hope that this helps you in your quest to finding that perfect sound (to your ears)!   ;D

Peace and practice

What J_Kay said. I also suggest you using a mallet instead of a stick when tuning. Also invest in a Drum Dial drum Tuner to really tweek things. Tuning is an art.... you have to really grow you ears.

Happy belated! I guess that you have to toot your own horn to get that special birthday treatment. I'll get you a pair of sticks and a drumhead. Model of preference?

Thanks....I am not much for tooting my own horn. oh well, Next year, I will know better. Thanks for the offer, but you need that cash so you can keep up with your cleaning fetish.  ;D ;D ;D (pst. I love Vic Firth sticks, Lang, Mayer, etc. Evans heads are all I know. for my snare, Genera Batter side. G2 coated on 10,12,16 toms, with g1 clear on 10,12,16 tom resos. Evans 22 emad2 with emad reso.)

God Bless.
