Atonal Run
« on: July 29, 2006, 08:55:50 PM »
G,Ab,Db,A,Bb,Eb,B,C,F,D,Eb,Ab,E,F,Bb

You can start this on any note and it works in a lot of keys.  Notice that it is a 3-note motif repeated at different intervals.  This is a very clever way of "playing outside" of the original key.  Try different variations of this - Db,Ab,G,Eb,Bb,A,...; Db,Ab,G,Bb,F,E...; G,Ab,Db,E,F,Bb...

Cool man.  I'll try this.  I suppose in theory it should work in any key because it's not based off of any key in particular.  Thanks.

While doing this run, I discovered that they work real good in the keys of Ab, Db, and Eb...although you can play them in almost all keys and it will sound good.
