I guess it's more or less an opinion than fact. I think people look for different things when it comes to the characteristics of a clonewheel. I personally was not impressed with the Korg CX-3. The leslie simulator had a very digital sound to it. I felt the Hammond XK-2 and XK-3 (don't know about the XK-1) were the same way. The nord Electro 2 sounded really good, but the higher notes sounded too shrill when the tremolo was on. The Voce V5 I've heard has the best Hammond tone, but there is no leslie simulator. You can either get the Voce Spin to use with it or just get a Leslie for it. The Roland VK-8 had the best simulator IMO. Just about every parameter can be edited on it.
If you're planning to use a Leslie with the clonewheel of your choice, then you're not so limited to what sounds best with the simulator. I've been thinking about maybe next year, selling the VK-8 and purchasing a Hammond XK-3 from Goff Professional. There's nothing wrong with the VK-8, but since I'm not using the simulator anymore, I'd like to have those preset keys by my left hand, and I'd like to have the 2 sets of drawbars and pedal drawbars. Plus, if I wanted to, I could purchase the lower manual later on.
Just my $.02 for ya.
