BASS GUITAR STRINGS
« on: September 12, 2006, 12:01:08 PM »
Hello LGMers! ( HaHaHa).  I have a question. I've been playing bass for bout 2yrs now and rather good if i must say so my self.  I play a Cort A5.  Its a nice neckthru bass with Bart. MK1s on it.  But my question is, is it me or are Ken Smith strings not as bright sounding as other name brands strings.  I swithched from Elixer to KS about a year ago becuz KS seem easier for bending notes but they dont seem as bright to me as say Elixers, Finders, or DR. Anyone else uses KS strings?

Are the Ken Smith's made of Nickel or Steel? Nickel strings are not very bright sounding nor do they keep that new twang for long but they are a great finger style string! I've never tried Ken Smith's but am very familiar with Elixer strings which I like a lot. I also like Dean Markley Blue Steels as well.

On another note, I remember way back when I first started, after a couple of years, I was pretty good as well! I got recruited by lots of neighborhood garage bands because I 'knew' every song! It got to the point where bands were going to boot out their current bassists for me but I started feeling really bad about that so I refused to join any band that already had a bass player whether they were good or not!

I use Dean Markleys only. I was thinking of switching then I thought nawww. I am going to put Fender tape wounds on my fret-less.
