Custom bass
« on: September 06, 2006, 09:57:49 AM »
Has anyone heard of Pavel Basses.  I might be getting one of these soon.  I've always wanted a custom bass, and here's my opportunity.  I'm thinking about getting the Aryel model.  Its like Terrance Palmer's, but it will be to my specifications.  Here's his website: www.pavelmi.com and his basses can be seen on his myspace page: www.myspace.com/pavelmi.  Check him out.

They look pretty nice. I don't like single-cut body styles. I prefer more traditional style bodies although my Yamaha TRB is not a traditional body style. If you do like traditional body instruments, I suggest you check out Nino Valenti's work. Check him out at www.valentibasses.com

i'm the type of person that steps outside the box, so I'm pretty sure I'm going the the single-cut body.  It makes the neck much stronger.  Hopefully I'll be calling him back this Friday to place my order and then wait 6-8 months until it arrives at my front door step. ;D ;D

This is what I just bought last night.

A beautiful slab of spalted maple for my top.

Going with a walnut or mahogany body, birdseye maple fretboard or rosewood, and i haven't decided on the neck wood yet.

Gonna be a neck through though :)

TP is one of my BIGGEST influences as a bass player.  I saw Israel & New Breed in concert this summer and was blown away by his live sound.  I wonder how much a 6 string Pavel (lefty) would cost?

I vowed that I wouldn't tell his prices, but if you shoot him an email he will respond and he could tell you.  Remember though, these are custom basses so you will have to pay a little for them.

Thanks, I was just curious to see if his prices were on par with some of the other "big" names in custom 'gospel' basses (smith, mtd, etc).

I think I'll still send him an email...it couldn't hurt right? :)
