Well I'm already left handed so I do alot of my hi-hat work with my left but I still got a lot of practice to perfect both of my hands.  Good post BBD.

Its funny, a good independent left hand opens a whole new world to your playing!

yeah man cause i'm right handed but but i'm left oriented 4 some reason when it comes to instruments ( i play bass and guitar left handed), i started off playing drums open handed up untill i was 13 or 14 i started playing drums when i was 2. then i started playing cross handed when i was told since i'm right handed u suppose to play like this and u'r right man it it does expand your horizon's as far as creativity goes....i still play lefty sometimes

I can testify to that. Being a lefty, I switched to open handed playing about a month and a half ago...I have doubled if not tripled my speed and control on the kit....its amazing how much more dominance you have, when either hand can lead.

God Bless.
