The word is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ .

* it ignores or underestimates the role of inner attitude and motivation;
* it focuses upon self-effort rather than on divine enablement;
* it encourages pride rather than humble dependence upon God;
* it tends to ‘use’ the Scriptures to reinforce our own preconceived ideas and preferences;
* it tends to conceive of our acceptance with God as performance oriented;
* it arouses the flesh and incites us to sin, rather than the avoidance of sin;
* it tends to impose one’s personal convictions on others, and to condemn them if they fail to live up to our rules.

__________  provides comfort to insecure people. But, as they become more mature and experienced in their faith, they often discover that the rigid codes oversimplify reality.

__________  often use biblical scripture in order to back up these doctrines and laws. Most of the time it is through the interpretation and misinterpretation of the Bible that these laws become reality to the members.

In the process of establishing and enforcing these "man made rules and doctrines", the church leadership becomes no better than modern day Pharisees. And, eventually can drive people away from Christianity. Which is the ultimate sin. In their attempt at cultivating a flock, they have driven people away.

Which goes into another subject, Church leadership. Sometimes corrupt and sometimes authoritarian. For some unexplained reason, Pastors and high church officials perceive themselves to be on a higher level than the common man. Or, that they are closer to God because of their position. Obviously, the Pharisees used this same tactic in the first century.

Some ministers do have some training in psychology. This in itself can be a weapon. They also perceive themselves to be the ultimate authority on God and the Bible. And, worse yet, they also may feel that they personally are closer to God and have his authority.

Can you guess what the word is?  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

OW OW OW I KNOW I KNOW!!!!!! PICK ME PICK ME!!!!!!

Glossolalia, a Greek word that simply means tongues-speaking or speaking with tongues, was one of the miraculous gifts (Greek: charisma) of the spirit prevalent in the Church during the time of the Apostles. Many feel the holy Spirit is again miraculously bestowing the charisma of tongues on Christians.

Glossolalia today generally takes the form of ecstatic, unintelligible utterances. The question of whether tongues-speaking as used in the Scriptures was ecstatic utterances or foreign languages will be considered in detail subsequently.

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

     As a member of LGM, I'm aware of the religious diversity that is encompassed throughout this site, but I must as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ express something of importance.  This stems from that "tongue" thread. Time to stop the foolishness.
(((((((((((((((WARNING)))))))))))))))

This will probably offend MANY and for it I do
not apologize, even if it cost me this thread.

If theres one thing that I know, it is that God is absolute. He being absolute, makes his word (the truth) absolute. We as man, being the fallable humans we are, will misinterpret these truths and even go as far as to change them to suite us. Yet, that which God has established remains true, just and INFALLABLE.  Yeah, God is love and he loves his creation with a everlasting love, but hes also sovereign and eventually passes judgement to those who fail to adhere to his truths.

With that being said, I will say this, "Someone's living a lie and somebody's going to hell".  What do I mean?  Everybody here believes in Christ and everyone here considers themselves "Christians", but we foolishly have over 1300 denominations in the world of Christiandom because everybody wanna believe they have "the truth". People, listen, theres only one truth! The WORD!

Okay… I was with you up until this point….

First off to make a statement like this, as uriah stated… It comes across as if you are saying that everyone is going to hell except you…. I can understand why your statement was stated… However, as you stated it can be interpreted several different ways….

Your statement in bold here… is an embellishment… According to what I have studied and learn there are about 7 to 10 Major denominations of Christianity and each of those denominations have branches… or smaller sets…. Such as COOLJC, COGIC, etc… and so on and so forth…. (the jury is still out on the number there)

Of course everyone of them caint be right… However, in that statement it can be interpreted that you are saying one of 2 things… Either you are stating that you (your denomination) is right or that you are having doubts about your denominations having the “Truth”….

I agree 1,000,000% with your last statement there….
[/b]

Yes, the bible contains areas of symbolism and then there are passages that can just be taken for face value (literal).  Understanding the Hermeneutics (the science of interpretation) of the bible may be tricky to some, but through prayer and reading in the Holy Ghost grants one true spiritual insight.  Simply, there are things that we've been taught without doing any personal research, and things that we accept cause it "sounds" good, but isn't alway lined up with God's word.

I caint agree with you more… but this goes back to our 4 fathers not having the proper education and not being able to read… so whom ever was able to read taught and interpreted the scriptures… and the people memorized what was being said… never being able to read and understand for themselves…

This is where the tradition comes in… and we can accredit a lot of the misinterpretation of the scriptures to that… because it has always been said/done they continue to do it never wavering and when they “Truth” is taught it is called blasphemy…

The “TRUTH” the “WORD” (Jesus Christ) of God tells us in 2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP) Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
[/b]

Why am I saying all this?  Cause we've somehow begun to live in a delusional world of believing that everybody gonna make it and that just ain't true.  The bible clearly tell me what its going to take to make the rapture.  Paul, one of the greatest of the apostles says in Ephesians, "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism so that means SOMEONE'S living a lie.  Some say baptism's "In Jesus name" and others "Father, Son, Holy Ghost and both can't be right. I've seen no baptisms in the "Father, son, Holy Ghost" method ANYWHERE else in scripture... somebody's going to hell.

 In this particular statement you address 3 things and I will respond respectively… You are absolutely right that not everyone will make it heaven… Matthew 7:21 (Message) states it best… Knowing the correct password—saying 'Master, Master,' for instance— isn't going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.' And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.'

On the second part here… I am guess that you pulled that out in Ephesians 4:5 so that you can explain it… because there is more to that scripture than what you have state… Okay Paul in this particular verse was basically telling them that they have (Message) “One Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all.” All of which is thru Jesus Christ our Lord and savior… Remember back then there were a LOT of idol worshipers…. He wanted them to stay focused on the one true GOD…

Now as far as the baptizing part… I like the way it is stated here from the message… Matthew 28:18-20 (Message) Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." Notice that it says “name” and not “names” meaning you can only be baptized in the name that is above all names…. Although this particular topic has been run in the ground… Only the truth of the word of God shall stand….
[/b]

Some say that women can't preach and then you have women that say they're called.... someone's living a lie.  I personally don't see any women elders, apostles, bishops or any thing else in the NT and scripture even addresses those women who assume church authority (Rev. 2:20-23), but then I'm called a "hater" because of what the word CLEARLY states.... somebody's going to hell.

You first sentence, how ever particially true… there are plenty of woman called to preach, teach pastor (yeah I said it), prophesy, heal, cast out demons and so forth… There are instances in the bible where women were teaching, prophesying and telling of God goodness… in Acts 21:9 Phillip the Evangelist had 4 daughters who prophesied… John 4… the Samaritan woman… and others….

I draw your attention to Ephesians 4:7-11 (Message) But that doesn't mean you should all look and speak and act the same. Out of the generosity of Christ, each of us is given his own gift. The text for this is, He climbed the high mountain, He captured the enemy and seized the booty, He handed it all out in gifts to the people. Is it not true that the One who climbed up also climbed down, down to the valley of earth? And the One who climbed down is the One who climbed back up, up to highest heaven. He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ's followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ's body, the church, until we're all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God's Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.

There was no gender given in there… The ONLY instances where I find that there is a gender specified is the office of a Bishop and Elder… Unless I am mistaken… 1 Timothy 3:2 & Titus1:5-6….

Okay now you referenced a scripture dealing with the Jezzabel spirit… Did you NOT know that this spirit can come on a man as well… However it is commonly used in a woman… since when do spirits have a respect of person… I am not understanding WHY you would use such a scripture to back up women not being able to hold positions of authority…

Also, if you are gonna use that scripture you will have to reference the scriptures in the old testament as well… 1 Kings 16 thru 21 and 2 Kings 9…. Those scriptures need to be studied also in order to get the “revelation” in revelations 2:20….

There goes that statement again… But anyway… Lets move on shall we… Okay…
[/b]

Some say that theres three in heaven, and other say that theres only ONE Lord... someone's living a lie.  My bible tells me, "Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:" in Mark 12 and that the Father, Word and Holy Ghost are ONE in I John 5:7... somebody's going to hell.

Well you is right about that… The 3 are one…

Why you keep saying that??
[/b]

There are those that believe you must live a holy and sanctified life before the Lord, then there are those that think you can live some filthy, degraded life and God understands your heart... someone's living a lie.  The Spirit tells me that "the soul that sinneth SHALL die" and my word backs that up... somebody's going to hell.

Your words?? I thought we were talking about the word of God… Any Who…

You are write in Ezekiel 18:4 it CLEARLY states that… and I will also direct you to Romans 6:23…. Why you keep saying that? Its getting tiresome…

But I’ll move on….
[/b]

"You don't need to speak in tongues to have the Holy Ghost" says some, and other believers say that its the initial evidence of it.... someone's living a lie.  Jesus told Nicodemus, "You MUST be born of the water and the SPIRIT".  How clearer can he be?? On the Day of Pentecost when the first church was established, he scripture says,
Acts 2:4
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
Why is that so hard to comprehend?? Yet there are those that sees it as meaningless to salvation... somebody's going to hell.

Man I got my work cut out for me on this one…

Jesus Told Nicodemus in John 3:5-6 (message) "You're not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the 'wind-hovering-over-the-water' creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it's not possible to enter God's kingdom. When you look at a baby, it's just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can't see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit.

No where in here does it say that you have to speak in tongues… but we shall move on… Neither does Acts 2:4… It is just a way of realizing that the Holy spirit is there… is it the only one?? No….

Speaking in tongues is NOT unto salvation… and we have had this discussion before… NOT speaking in tongues does NOT mean that you are not saved… Nor does it mean that we do NOT have salvation… We are saved thru Jesus Christ….

I refer you to a previous discussion which you and I had here on the message board about salvation….

http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,19551.25.html

Here you CLEARLY state that our disagreement is based on doctrinal differences…. So your previous statement  is based on your beliefs… and NOT what the word clearly states… Oh but you said that you were venting… My Bad… Also in this particular post you state and I quote “none of us can be the final judge of anyones life.” So why are you saying that people are going to Hell??? Why not just try to prevent it from happening…

Okay Moving right along…..
[/b]

Scripture talks against men with LONG hair, but brothers will dread it up or curl in down with no conviction. Paul addresses the plating of hair and modest apparel of believers, yet we'll spend $1200 for a suit and $800 for a dress just to be "sharp" and draw attention... somebody's living a lie.

uuummm where’s ur scripture where it CLEARLY states this… Oh never mind I found it…
1 Timothy 2:8-10 (Message) Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.

I ont see where it says Men in dere… If those people wanna spend they hard earned money on themselves then let them… the only thing you can do is pray and suggest what they should be doing with it…

I’m still looking for that scripture on da men’s hair…  so I will com back to that….
[/b]

The parables that was taught by Jesus was not to entertain you people, but for understanding.  Somebody's going to be a foolish virgin when Jesus returns with NO oil in your lamp.  Sadly, some lamps haven't even been initially filled.  Two will be sleeping. One taken and the other left. Two will be in the field. One taken and the other left. Two will be on LGM. One taken and the other left.... somebody's going to hell.

I’m not quite sure what your point is here… But I will say this…. God know everything about us… He know what we are gonna say befor ewe say it… He what decisions we are gonna make before we make them… He knows out beginning and our end…

There are some people who are destined for hell… They will go because they will not harken to the word f God… If you tell that sinner of the goodness of the Lord… and how he cans saved them and set them free from their sins… and how he can give them eternal life and they turn away from that… Guess what??? There blood will be on their own hands… because you have done your part… but to be constantly stating that someone is going to hell is just… well… its just not kool… because how are you showing love in that statement….

Okay moving right along…..
[/b]

I am in no way trying to be "holier than thou" and condenming folks to hell,

Yes you are…. If you are NOT then you are included in your own statement….[/b]

but God's word is his word and you can try to walk around it, jump over it or crawl under it, but if you don't adhere to it, you'll pay the consequences of your actions. People do want they want to do and go to churches that concurs to their beliefs, but that doesn't change the absoluteness of God's word.   Everbody ain't right and theres going to be  whole groups of people crying, "Lord, Lord" on that great and terrible day.

Someone's living a lie, somebody's going to hell...

Lord Help...

And in my closing….

You are right… we CANNOT get away from the truth if we tried… Our salvation is irrevocable… How we live out lives determines where we spend eternity… People who are church hoping are either looking for the “Truth” of trying to get away from it… All we can do is show them the door its up to them to open it…..

If they choose not to… telling them that they are going to Hell will NOT help at all…

The doors of the church are open……

I HAVE GOT TO SAY THIS: NJ

(There will probably be as many people in heaven just as suprised to see you as you will to see them!!!!!)

First of all Im really disappointed that this is still the position concerning "WOMEN" in many DENOMINATIONS.....

HOWEVER
I'm so GLAD no You didnt DIE  NO cross for me .......and YOU dont have no heaven or hell to put ME  in.  Because accordning to you I wouldnt make it. Women have come from the kitchen to corporate office and are still making LARGE strides in this world, on your CLOCK,  today.  And only in certain denomination are they still to be Quiet and know their place...THE DEVIL IS A LIE!!!!!!

The Authority of the Almighty God is given to each of us through the Holy Spirit (not our male or female body part) and what you think, or say will not in any way deter me from Preaching or speaking into a life that needs deliverance and healing.  (However what you say COULD deter someone young lady who has a word in her belly...or convince some young person here that women shouldnt be in the PULPIT....THE DEVIL AGAIN IS A LIE!!!!!!  (Sounds like a control issue to me)

NEWSFLASH!!!!!...GOD uses who he wants to use!!!!!

LAWD have mercy....SIS T, PRAIZE, SJON, NAKIA,Uriah somebody get my purse....Im about to give an offering to the cook because I eat like crazy when I get UPSET!!!!!!

With Love and Kindness have I drawn thee........
