Although I had never posted before I could just not past on an opportunity to share some of my thoughts with you all.
First let me say that as a musician what brought me to this site originally was its emphasis on music. After some time I noticed that the originators of this site broadened the scope and have started other many topics. Although I have no problem in principle with this and even if I had a problem with it in my wisdom I realize that my “opinion” would just be that, my opinion; yet I am compelled in my wisdom (..Still constantly praying for more though, ) to point out to you all in love and to the owners/moderators of this site of some of the “dangers” implied with this approach.
1. It is not just by accident that music is considered as THE universal language in that it
has the ability to bridge all types of apparent and factual differences between people,
cultures, etc.
2. Evident from the level and tone of the discussion as related to this topic I believe that
a safe assumption is to say that it has brought out a clear reality: we are from different
sociological, geographical, cultural, philosophical and theological backgrounds and
persuasions yet; I hope we could agree parts of the same body of Christ.
3. Topics such as this that are based on personal theology and/or belief are likely to cause
some of the effects that we are seeing. Now, because I really don’t know any of you
on a personal level and can only read what is typed I don’t know how serious it is
being taken but hope that it is not as serious as it appears to be from just reading some
of the posts.
4. The reality is that because we are all different we will always have different views on
issues such as this. And if the focus is to create topics and or site whose focus is
creating divisive issues then this is the way to go to get that effect. Some folks like
some drama and there are some that sustain that some drama in your life might not be
all that bad. But even if that is the idea I believe that some care and wisdom must still
be used since we are, or should be, our brothers’ keeper and someone might be hurt
and or offended on a personal level by some of what has been exchanged in this thread.
5. In summary, why don’t we stick to what binds us together than focus on obvious and
inevitable differences?
Finally, I propose and move for the moderator to declare this particular topic dead and let us move on to music.
