I wonder why you think you must live like a pauper to do so.   ?/?

I wonder what makes you think I'm living like a pauper?  ;)

Quick story.

My former pastor has this obsession with watches. No, seriously; watches. So, we were looking around the mall a few Christmases ago and he came across this fancy looking watch worth a boatload of cash.

I asked him why he would want to spend that kind of money for a watch; to which he replied that he simply really liked watches.

THAT'S IT?!?!  ?/?

I've worn the same watch on my wrist since my JUNIOR year of college. Unless time changes while you're wearing a Movado, I'll stick with my watch until the battery dies.  ;)

I didn't say to spend money you don't have.
I didn't say to buy things you don't need.
I didn't say spend $500 on suits when you have $30 in your child's college fund.

But I will say this: if you believe that wearing a $70 suit is what God has for you, then by all means!

But IF the Lord blesses me that I have an abundance: I will tithe, give, vow, save, invest, AND wear the best.  Don't limit the Holy One of Israel!!!

Who's to say that by watching how one spends their God-given financial blessings that they are limiting the Holy One of Israel?

As stated, by me previously, "be you, do what you do". As for me, I want my money to work for me, so I'd would invest it and not wear or spend money on things that don't have value. That's all I'm saying.

Do you, bruh!! It's all good, maing!!  ;) ;D

Reading? Nah!  It's fun to be mental!

 :D :D :D

Oh, I'm saying you're limiting the Holy One of Israel because you seem to think that saving your money means you can't wear nice things.  But the Lord CAN bless you with enough to do both.  Ya gotta think big!

Ok, first I read what you said about investing, I just repeated it. Duh!  ;D  Thinking big has nothing to do with wearing or buying things with a depreciating value.  ;)

Stop tellin' folk their comin' up short just cause they don't think like you.  :D  I am thinking big. Like my house! Or, land!!  ;)

I'm with you on ABOUT everything......till you said this.   :(

It doesn't mean that you should some to church wearing $70 suits.  If the Lord has blessed me with a job making a significant amount of money, should I walk in a store and get a $70 suit, or a $500 suit?

Being humble isn't wearing cheap clothes or being poor.    ;)

Ha Ha.... 70$ Suits.... You know them bright purple and red suits with the stripes or the coats that hang almost to the ankle are the loudest suits and the cheapest at the saem time. Most expensive suits. Jones New York, EMJ, Steve Harvey ( some), Joseph Abboud, Sean John ( black label), Armani, and many of those Italian names are fairly modest. You might get a few stripes in them but generally they stay in the black , Grey, Brown, Blue family. Just my observation.

MAN THIS IS AN OLD POST THOUGH!!! WHO BROUGH THIS BACK UP?? :D :D :D

There you go!  I would never tell the Lord that a House and Land is the limit to what I can have!  What sense would it make to have houses, land, and shop at Bargain Basements?  :-\

I believe He WANTS me to wear the best!

I believe He WANTS me to look the best!

I believe I am a child of the King!

So if I can invest, save, AND dress well, then why not!

Oh, and buying cheap isn't necessarily being a good steward.

Clothes with superior stitching and design will last longer than cheap stuff.

Hey Nakia!

I stop in but I have been in transition. We are moving to Seattle. I'm already working here now so it's been hard to sit down at the computer for any period of time. But I checks in to get a good laugh or two.

Blessed Holiday's to ya!

Listen, I never attacked you. I simply, SIMPLY stated that I'm not going to put anyone down for wearing what they wear. You were the one having a hard time with the $70 suit.

I don't care about stuff that has no increasing value in it (i.e. suits, shoes, watches, etc). Those things don't last, don't stand up, etc etc.

I'd use my money for other things that'll last for my family for generations.

I said "DO YOU" a long time ago. YOU are still trying to make your point (i.e. attacking) even if in a joking manner. Now, don't get it twisted; I ain't upset or nothing like that, we just talkin'. But, at the end of the day, you do what you're gonna do with your cash and I'll what I'm going to do. As long as God is please with how we use our individual resources, who cares anyway, right?  ;)

Before this escalates, I think we need to sing a song.

Come on everybody!

"There comes a time
When we head a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on
Pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God's great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just sjonathan and me

Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just sjonathan and me

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just sjonathan and me"

I am fairly new to LGM. It has been an awesome musical tool for me.

I have a simply comment and then I am done............

How does a conversation like this edify the body? There seems to be no wisdom in the words that have gone forth. There my be some truth (and i wont say anything else about that) but there is no wisdom. Hell is real, but rarely can you win someone to Christ by condeming them to hell. We hate the sin, not the sinner. So some of the words said in this thread, although some.....and i repeat......some of it may be biblically sound.......there does not seem to be wisdom in those words. God is Love. I pray for wisdom in what we say, and how we say it. I can send no one in this world to hell. Only God can do that. Although some of our actions will send us there. I believe in HOLY living....GOD IS HOLY and requires us to live HOLY.......However.....there is no sin greater than the next.........If GOD holds us responsible for all our sins.......what about the sin of omition. When I should have did something and did not. Who will be honest and admit the amount of times that has happened. If you are honest you cant even count the. The sins called out in this thread seems to be the obvious ones that we all see. Those types of sins bother me, but not like the ones that are hidden from our eyes. Those are the devils playground. I tried to eat popcorn as I read this but it really hurt my heart to see the lack of wisdom of God's people.

God bless you all..........

P.S. Anyone got the chords to Fall on Me by Shekinah Glory????????

Who cares what you wear and how much you paid for it anyway?  I don't.  Just make sure it's clean and you can button it without feeling like you've been in a Tae-Bo workout.
