The lyrics that you gave could be just about any Gospel song...but I'm thinking it might be

I think you might be talking about the old song from the late 80's:

God did it, oh yes He did it
Lead singer: I went to the preacher
Choir: (God did it)
But he couldn't save me

VT is right, that could be any gospel song. Could you supply more of the lyrics and/or the tempo of the song if you can remember? That would help others to help you find what you're in need of.  ;)
