IF YOU.....PT2.

Knew the exact day and time you were going to die, would you wait until an hour before to give your life to Christ?

Not a chance!  I've seen too many procrasitnate with trivial matters that escalated into outright catastrophies.  My salvation is TOO valuable to treat it like some laundry I can do later!  NosireeBobbyJr!... :o... :-[

MAN NO WAY! The benefits I am receiving right now far outway a life of sin and ill gotten wealth and success! I'd rather be successful in the kingdom and get my reward in heaven than to live a life of sin risking the chance that I party soo hard that in that last hour--I just forgot! :-\ :)

Great thread though! It's going to be interesting to follow!

I agree with previous poster.  Having tasted of the saved life, I wouldn't trade it if I could.  Even if eternal life wasn't on the table, it's a far better way to go through life.  Not to say there aren't rough spots, but knowing the One who is running the whole show and knowing that he is so in love w/ little ole me.... you can't find a love like that anywhere else.

If I knew the exact day and time of my death, honestly, I think I would be even more in a hurry to do what God wants, because there is so much to be done, sometimes I feel like I'm not moving fast enough in some areas of my life.  But if that date was looming, I'm sure it would be even more motivation.

I agree that the saved life is wonderful, and I wouldn't backslide either. At least, I don't think I would.

However, I have a little hunch that we really don't know what we would do if we could. I mean, the Bible says that the heart is decetful above all things, and desperately wicked. I know I can't trust my human heart or flesh, because I would give myself too much credit in a minute . . . the Bible says in my flesh dwells no good thing! Kinda scary.

That is one of the reasons I think no one really knows when the Day of the LORD is. No kingdom work would get done, because most everyone may very well do everything they thought they were big enough to do until the day before, and then say the sinner's prayer.

I have to think back to my unsaved mind, I probably would have waited until the hour before. Why because I know I would have been able to do all the dirt I wanted to do.

BUT!!!!!!!! In my saved, sanctified, still pursuing wisdom mind, I would not wait..I would press even harder....hmmmmm so what is stopping us from pressing harder, because we don't know the time when we will die in this flesh???

Wow... this question shows me a lot about the yokes that have been placed on man by the pharisees and the saducees of this day. I'd rather wait until before I die than carry all those weights placed on me by those people....

If the only Jesus I knew was what they represented I'd never have become a christian, for they are among the most miserable of men I've ever seen.

My sincere apologies... That was harsh... I let too much of the truth in my heart slip out....

I think it has to do with being in the current circumstance and comparing that vantage point with being able to see the whole picture of your life altogether.  If I know when I'm gonna die, then I know the whole span of time I have to work with.  I personally think that no matter how long my life was going to be, this time would be comparatively short when looking at what God has given me to do in my life -- and that's just the stuff that has been revealed to me thus far.

But we live life from a totally different vantage point, one day at a time, not really knowing how much time we have to complete the tasks at hand.  Thrown into the mix are all of the attacks of the enemy, setbacks, etc. that come to hinder us.  Now, if I knew I was going to die tonight, the things that try to hinder me today may be less effective because of the urgency of getting the tasks done.

I'm pretty glad we don't know when we will leave here, because I think it would be very frustrating if I saw the time of my death approaching and I'm battling to accomplish goals and suffering losses and set backs.  I think you handle setbacks and stuff better when the time you have on earth is just left up to God, and you just trust that if you yield to him you'll accomplish what he has planned for you in his time, and you won't die until his plan is fulfilled in your life.

hmmm...good question!

Its hard for me to say what I'd do because I grew up in the church, got saved early, and don't really know any different. But I hope that if given the choice I would choose a life with Christ.  My relationship with Christ is not just "fire insurance", but its acutally, well, a relationship.  I can honestly say that its been GOOD to know Jesus.  He's just so awesome...Plus knowing myself, I'd just be a HOT mess without Him  :D

Some of us are still a HOT mess with Him.  Okay, at least a WARM mess anyway.  But don't trip, He ain't through with me yet.

And for the record y'all, praises to God because I think my brain cell count has exceeded 40 for the first time in a while.

No. Everyone has something to contribute to the body of Christ. This is probably why we don't know the day nor hour. Think about it, how would anyone really get saved if there was no one working in the kingdom to tell them how.
I won't take nothing for my journey now. No turnin' back, no turnin' back.

I wouldnt want to know.

See this is something that sets us apart as christians.... well, it should set us apart. See, a perfect example is,

Lets say that an airplane that you are SUPPOSED to be on is leaving soon, you dont know the time of day, you just know you MUST be on it. Well, you would plan your day differently right???

To the Christian, you don't know the time or day, but you KNOW its gonna happen. Too many of us play church, and its like playing roulette with your soul. Not knowing makes us strive to be and do good. If we know the time and hour, we would be especially good on our last day. We wouldnt have an appreciation for our time that we are here on earth breathing and living...

I for one don't want to know. I am looking forward to that pleasant surprise...
