This is what happens when you try to bring worldly things into the church, Rap music in my opinion is strictly for the world
but people try to incorporate new things, new views, new revelations, and none of it is annoited, it's all carnal. Render therefore unto the world the things which are the world's, and unto God the things that are God's.

:o :o I couldn't listen to all of it because a) I couldn't understand a single word that was said!  b) my spirit wasn't connecting with what they were doing and was even disturbed too much to continue watching it and   c) I couldn't tell the difference between what they were doing and what I imagine goes on in clubs.

Can't we have just a little holiness please??  ?/?

I couldn't even bare to watch the whole clip. Church isn't just for old people, but it is for the mature saint. I feel bad for them, blind leading the blind. They're gonna find them selves in "THE PIT". --PEACE--

I agree! When i saw that video I was very disturbed in my spirit. Mostly the whole time i was upset to see this going on in a church, I couldn't even take it! I had to cut off the video because it hurted me so much. I couldn't understand it, but I dont know what's going on in these church's today.

As I said earlier there are Rappers who perform and there are Rappers who minister. I've been in christian rapping for a while as a rapper and manager. From my point of view the lyrics were pointless and from management side I would have made them trash the whole song. For 1 christian rappers stay under attack because its different, some people can't sing and dance, is that an excuse not to praise God... My group has gone to ministries who did not think it was exceptable but if you put lyrics on paper you can't tell if its rap or singing. Once we look past the style of music and listen to the lyrics which actually determine the genre of music then we will be able to look past the non sense. Once it brings me to the point of how do you determine, gospel beats, gospel patterns, gospel chords......You can't. You can determine Gospel lyrics on though. Once again I am not defending these guys( cause that was a hot mess) but I just want people to look past the fact that its rap and realize it is a form of praise. Be blessed

P.S. Those churchs who once rejected our music now want us to work with there youth to get them active in there ministries. Be blessed again

Ok, I watched the clip and read the repsonses, it seems as though they like christian rap, but it's not 100% ligeit but if this is what attracks them to the church then so be it.  I its GREAT that they are in a church period, think about all the other places they couldve been, and prolly dead from a gunshot wound.  Eventually they will grow out of it, but come on, Im 18 and it's 2006 already, some things just attract people, so u need to think outside the box and attempt all methods first.

Now if i was a club goer, and i went to that church i woulda had a good time, and i would actually wanna come back.  We on here talking bout it aint holy, but at least that minister got those young people's foot in door... That's exactly what wrong wit churches today, there is TOO MANY "INSIDE THE BOX CHRISTIANS" planning for an "OUTSIDE THE BOX GENERATION"!  ;D

Ur start doesn't determine ur ending... Just because they start out acting like a club, they will grow outta it after getting some training and spiritual advising, when they rethink this thing and establish a relationship wit God.  It's just like math, find the method that works best for YOU!

Does somebody have a definition of "worldly music" other than something that doesnt exalt, or point to God?

People usually use "Worldly" to define something that doesnt sound like P&W, traditional gospel, Quartet, or something of the like....

Some folk thought Tonex was worldly......

REWIND>>>>>

Some people thought the Winans was worldly('Time to make a change")

REWIND>>>>>

Some people thought  John P. Kee was worldly when he put the James Brown stuff in a song

REWIND>>>>>

Some people thought having electric guitars was worldly.

REWIND>>>>>>

Some people thought Jazz was worldly.

FAST FORWARD>>>>>>

Anybody seen Shirley Ceasar rappin?

hmm....

no offense but i dont agree with that statement bcuz give God whats Gods and give MTV whats theres.

one thing that does upset me in this post is that there are alot of post condemning the way they worshipped i myself am not big on it but i cant comdemn it either and no has posted how on the Tye Tribbett DVD his singers are crunk dancing or saying its wrong obviously theres no rapping on his dvd but the dancing was there so if the message by these rappers were in the spirit of Gospel who are we too judge.

Also remember when the winans, commissioned, kirk franklin, or any other modern day gospel artist came out they all recieved alot of negative comments about their ministries.

This is just crazy....so for those people of the generation that like death metal groups like "Dying Fetus" or "Morbid Angel" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_metal) .... would you try to draw them in by singing that type of music in church?....

I SINCERELY hope not. I know music changes, but some music you just don't accept.

I actually listened to what I could make sense of and it sounds like they were saying "we tear the walls down and take the church outside". I actually have no problem with that because most of us over the years have made the mistake of thinking that church is supposed to stay confined within the four walls. But its time for us to stop preaching to the saved and take the church outside the walls to the unsaved. I actually dig that part. Now the other part I couldnt understand what they were saying. It may have made more sense if I was there to really understand their words. As far as the buck jumpin club scene aspect of it, im not really sure how I feel about that.

y'kno whenever this topic is discussed, it always falls on hiphop/hard rock.

It used to be jazz too, but people "like" jazz now, so.......

what about other genres?

The indian raga?

Calypso?

Reggae?

Japanese Gagaku?

the Brazilian Samba?

Opera?

The list goes on..

Is this to mean that if it aint what fits in our "world" then it ought not be?

Its often said that 'you cant bring that into the sanctuary"

Ya need to check out Kurtis Blow's Hip Hop church(yeh, he a minister now), i live right next to it

everyone aint gonna get down to "nearer my God To thee"

What was the intent? is the writer/exectutor of the song truly doing it for the Lord?

Mebbe you cant get wit blistering guitar solos with the distortion pedal turn up to 11. but if  it is indeed for the Lord and ministry, it'll find its mark.

Cuz I tell u, ive seen plenty of "gospel choir" show up to a church with plans to "turn it out" and not minister and worship!

Well, I saw the clip and the only bad thing I saw there was:  "There was no order in that church!!!"

The music I can deal with, the rapping I can deal with, everybody on they feet dancing for Jesus I can deal with.  I have nothing against Chrisitian rap music, in fact I own some CD's myself.  What I couldn't deal with was the fact that everybody was all over the place.  The rappers was running around, jumping in and out the pulpit, and all the kids was just "wildin out".  Yes, we should have fun in church, but not to the point where somebody could get hurt.  I know some people have been to parties or clubs where they have that mob scene, and somebody falls down and gets stepped on, or fights break out cuz people hitting each other.  I don't think the people were doing anything too "worldly", i think they just lost self-control.

Had the people exercised some self-control, this clip wouldn't have bothered me one bit.  I wonder where the pastors or leaders of the church was, cuz had this been my church, the show would have been over before it started.  We have a Christian rapper at our church and a lot of young people.  Our church don't act like that nor would my pastors allow such behavior.  When our rapper gets up, we all stand up and have a good time, but we don't go buckwild like that.

Thtat's my opinon!!! ;D

Well, I DO NOT like todays rap, mainly because I can't understand a word they are saying.  But at the same time I do not have a problem with rap at the church BBBBUUUTTTTTT when it looks like COMPLETE crazyness in the church, there is something that not right about that.
